Talking Complete interior painting project begins... Progess pictures

A few weeks ago I painted some of interior pieces silver in my car and after much debate, I've began my project to repaint my whole interior. I'm pretty much doing everything (seats, carpet, door panels, head liner, pillars, dashboard, rear deck, center console) in black, with a few items in silver for contrast.

I'm pretty much using all Dupli-Color products since that's what I started the other pieces with and want to stay consistant.

This is what I did a few weeks ago and how it looks before I started:

(PHOTOCHOP) After I finish, I hope to have it look like this:

I already did my door handles in silver but was lazy to primer thinking the Vinyl and Fabric paint would stick well enough just by itself (it worked fine for my other project)... However soon after finishing up the door handles they began to chip and peal. So I had to strip the paint (pain the arse) then sand it down, primer, repaint and clear coat.

Here's a pic of the door handle after I resanded and primered

I'm going to paint the main pieces black, the center fabric silver, the handles, the window roll up control panels, and also the little cubby piece silver. Here's some work on the door:

Cleaned up, taped up, and ready for paint

First coat of primer

First coat of Gloss Black paint

Final coat of Gloss Black paint (still wet)

I should have this one door ready in a few days with all the pieces so you can get an idea how everything else will look. This project sure is going to take me a hell of a long time since I only can work on it after work. I wish I worked somewhere that I could drag a door panel in to take up and prep for paint since it takes more time than the actual painting

I'll update with new pics as I go along!

I know huh?? I'd only have a hand full of items I need to paint...

Well I didn't really have a choice but it's sort of fun painting the car like this...

I forgot to add some pics of the window panel control pieces...

Lots of work. Hope it turns out okay for ya. Good luck.

Also, are you painting the seats? Why not get a black leather kit? I have my old charcoal cloth covers, but I don't think you'd want them.

Looking good. You will learn as you go. Own my first gen it took me about 2 months do complete the whole interior and a lot of spraycans. You might have problems with scracthes on the paint just make sure you are doing plenty of clear coating.

Yeah I already had to redo some pieces as the got scratched up since I was lazy to primer and clear. How long did you wait after you finished painting a piece before you put it back on the car??

Yup I will attempt to paint the seats... It has come across my mind to get leather seats but I don't know if I want to spend that much money, how much was your kit exactly anyways?? I'll see how the fabric painting turns out. No thanks for the charcoal cloth covers.

I waited for about a week or so because you don't wan't to inhale all the chemicals. The way I did it was or course remove the pieces out and sanded all the parts real good, primed three times, painted about 2 or 3 coating and about 4 coats of clear so no problems on scratches and you will be ok.
