OK I know this was asked before but I really wanna add some LED tails now and was figuring if anyone has tried the 3157 Spider bulbs yet and if it worked. My problem is I have 2 layer overlays and its pretty dark during the daytime and I want something that puts out some more visible light. If no one has tried it...I will try and see if I can get them hoping that autolumination has a return policy.

Yes they take returns for a 20% restocking fee. I really dont think that the LED tail lights will make a noticeable difference with your tints.

with the tint on the taillights, it will not be worth the cost and effort. Sorry

I don't think the spider bulbs would put off enough light backwards since it's a reflector housing, that's what I'd be worried about most.

^^^ Yeah thanks and I've decided not to go with them anyways since it won't help at all. I will just get them when my lights need to be changed.

That's a good idea.

If they were more powerful, they'd look really badass in there, but the way they are now they wouldn't do a whole lot.

Your best bet is getting the ones either I or missouriguy got

Would they help since its not that much brighter...I just don't want to get pulled over because a cop decided to be a dick one day having tinted taillights not being bright enough. I'm kinda on the cusp right now because people are saying they are not brighter but they appear bright as hell when I see them. Plus I want to do the interior lights anyway because I don't feel they are bright enough and I want to do either blue or red lighting inside anyway. I have a blue neon lighting my subs and airbag tank/compressors currently but I think red on the interior would help better with the transition to night vision (Yes I am in the military lol). Let me know what you think because I may order today now. Thanks

You'd have to get a prick cop with 20/15 vision to see the LED's in there anyway. The ONLY way you'd get pulled over is if you put the wrong colors in there, or if they aren't working. The latter isn't very likely with the autolumination ones.

There's nothing about DOT banning aftermarket LED bulbs anyway.

Hey I think you need to read my post more thoroughly. LEDs are perfectly legal since they are in newer luxury cars. What I'm worried about is my current lights not being bright enough which is why I wanted LEDs.

There seem to be a little confusion here. Some people said the LEDs are damn bright some says not much of a difference. Well here is a comparison:
The driver side is the led and the passenger side is stock:

And here is a link to a vid of the two when the brakes are applied. The led is on the right side now. Notice how it responds quicker when I applied the brakes. Both stock and LED have about the same output of light with the brakes on. LINK

I'm also noticing that most of you are using colored lights in the taillight housing when the factory bulbs are clear so why not use the clear ones since they are brighter. I think I will go that route for the Stop light bulbs. The side markers and reverse really don't need to be done in my eyes since there is really nothing out there yet that are brighter. Eventually I will replace the turn signals but for now I won't mess with it until I get a more definite plan on what to do exactly. Now for the license plates...does anyone know if there are any laws that say you cannot use red LEDs for the plate since there is a concern of the white ones being too blue.

INTERIOR LIGHTS
Now what I wanna know is what are people using on their interior lights since from the look of most of the housings the light shines mostly from the sides and not the tip of the bulb. I possibly wanna do Blue or Red but I would like to know opinions of both if anyone has seen them. I'm concerned about either not being bright enough since I feel the stock bulbs are not bright enough for me so I may just go white LEDs.

Anything you guys can help with will be greatly appreciated. And therupp...you should edit your original post with all the numbers for each bulb which would help new people to the thread find their answers without having to read each and every page. Thanks man for all your help.

Well, the clear ones would make the taillights look pink. Here's why.

The stock bulbs are meant to illuminate the red housing. The white LED clusters are meant to illuminate white, and put off a pure white light. So, the pure white light + red housing = pink taillights, which is definitely gonna get you pulled over.

I know you can't have red anywhere on the rear of your car unless it's a brake/tail light. In IL I know it's illegal, but then again, so is breathing.

You can't have the red neon license plate brackets, I know that much. I'd think that red license plate bulbs would get you in trouble as well, since it'd interfere with readability. The blue ones would probably be the same story, to a lesser extent.

I put the white ones in my car because I thought they looked cool, like the new Lexus's have.

Most people are using blue it seems. Either that, or white. If you want to be original, I say go for the red, although it's not for me personally. I use y interior lights a lot, and I don't think red would help any except for looks.

I say go with white.

I'll get on that, thanks.

As a reminder, here you go:

Low beam & fog: H11
High beam: H9
Parking light: 3157
Front & Rear turn signal: 3157
Taillight/Brake: 3157
High mount windshield brake: 912
License plate: 194
Reverse: 912
Rear sidemarker: 194
Glove box: 194
Map light: 578 / "Festoon"
Dome light: DE3175
Door puddle lamp: 194
Trunk: 194

Edit: Funny fact, I don't even have the car in the original post anymore

^ Thanks for the info and a couple more questions...I have a sunroof so no dome light here...just front and rear map lights and I was wondering if the rear map lights (also called the personal lamp) which are at the sides by the oh-shit handles with an on/off switch and I need the number for them...I'm thinking they are 194s since they kinda look exactly like the puddle lamps but I'm not real sure. I even think that the front map lights with the sunroof are the same 194...I pulled out the housing and checked myself. As for the interior lights...the only ones in my situation that need to have light on the sides are the puddle lights in the doors since they face sideways. Both sets of map lights face straight down so a flashlight type bulb would be best in these applications. I checked the service manual and it states that all the bulb types are wedge but with different wattages so I'm wondering if that really applies here and since they are wedge type bulbs, shouldn't the type 194 bulbs fit in all locations. And okay I will lean more towards white/blue since I have blue neon in the trunk already. Thanks yet again

I'm pretty sure those are 194's back there. I haven't cracked those open yet since I'm probably not going to replace them.

There's a 194 Flank Bulb out there... it's a really powerful LED mounted on a board facing sideways. Maybe you can try this one?
