Picked up some SE-R tails..... finally

So like many others here, I hated the way our stock tail lights looked. I wanted something different, something that was not chrome. I met a guy on here, several years ago, who was trading in his car. He had some custom red out tails. They looked pretty good. I traded my stock lights for them and I was very happy. However, after about a year one of the lights started to fade considerably. By the beginning of this year it was like I had one red light and one orange light. It looked horrible. Here is a picture of the good light off of the car. I can't find any pictures of them on the car, if I find any I will post them.

My plan was to purchase some more stock lights and have them painted again. So I bought some off of here. Well the guy stated in the listing that one of the lights had a crack on it, he said nothing major. So, I decided not to ask for pics.. Turns out that the small crack was actually pretty big, and lets in tons of water. So they were pretty useless, as far as my project went. I decided to wait around for a good deal. I found a guy on craigslist who had some SE-R tails that he would trade for stock ones, plus cash obviously. I asked if he would take my broken one, he said HELL NO. Finally after a few days of trying to find some cheap lights I could buy then trade for the SE-Rs, I found some on craigslist. The listing said that they were lightly smoked and in the picture, the chrome part appeared to be a tad bit darker than stock. I offered them 40 since they wanted 75. I was just trying to keep my costs down, since I still had to put up cash for the SE-Rs. I go pick them up today and I was in for a surprise, these were SE-R tails. I think I got a sweet deal.

Sorry for the long post, I am just excited about my purchase.

Hm can't tell if theyre OEM or A/M (doesnt look as "metallic" as mine)

Huge improvement & great deal regardless.

PS Super black is #1

there are 2 OEM color variations, one is the chrome black, the other is more gloss black

I'm guessing (but I don't really know) it might be by color... since it was made in black/grey/silver/red (red being my favorite of all the colors on the SE-R).

I dont think it is by year, i dont know that there is any real rhyme or reason to it at all, the same part number can pull up two different variations. I believe paulie has the gloss ones on his stock code red, while others with code red have the black chrome (ankit?). this info was buried in some thread about a totally unrelated topic lol.

here are the black chrome, an old pic of mine. the op's are very hard to tell. You pretty much need to shoot them in direct sunlight to tell

the easiest way to see is by looking at the piece between the body and the largest lamp IMO.

Thanks guy for all your comments. I had just washed my car so the pictures came out nice. The lights are a glossy black. I'm not too sure if they are OEM as I have never actually seen the glossy black ones in real life. I have only seen the black chrome ones. I know the trim is dark, unlike the ones on ebay.
