I just saw this today and thought it hasn't been mentioned here before. Not sure how advantageous it will be for performance since we have an aluminum hood already. I guess you can get it for looks.
I'd be curious to know if that is just a carbon fiber overlay like the rest of the hoods that exist. Yes, it does say it has real carbon fiber, but that doesn't mean its not just a layer or two over the fiberglass.
Interesting.

well for the $650 ish that they charge it better be a real cf hood or theyd be setting themselves up for a bit of trouble considering you can get a stock hood for under $300 an some cf vinyl for under $100 installed. is there a spec for how much it weighs so you can compare the difference to a stock hood?

The altima hood is pretty darn light as it is. Unless its a real CF hood, it would be more prudent to have BAT make up a CF overlay for the hood.
The real CF should (and I'm guestimating) weigh less than 10lbm.

The hood is real carbon fiber. My friend has a VIS CF hood on his Honda and I had a VIS hood on my old 95 Maxima. VIS makes one of the best CF hoods out there. Siebon is another amazing company. CF Vinyl overlay would be quite stupid in my honest opinion plus theres no company out there that makes one big enough. I believe the widest sheet is 24in so it would def have to be done in 2 or 3 pieces and the seams will look like crap espcially on the hood. You can get away with it on the roof but def not the hood.

I didn't know the widest sheet one could get was 24 inches. That would look dumb.
I'm not debating whether or not it actually has carbon fiber in it, I'm sure it does. The debate lies in the assumption thus far that it is 100% carbon fiber.
We make quite a few of the body panels on our FSAE car out of the stuff, and its expensive for just some small pieces and that's doing it ourselves. That's why I'm skeptical.

Carbon Fiber weave right now is actually very expensive due to the war. A lot of stealth and light weight vehicles are made with CF panels and armor. I know Helicoptors as well are made with Carbon COmposites. More really high end vehicles are using Carbon FIber as well which are in production using up the matierals. I was reading up on it last year.

Probably the difference in the weight will be insignificant. if it had air scoop then might be considered.
