^Its going to be hard to top the Corolla with anything, its been the best selling passenger car in the united states for many years.
I read the US data often, and the Corolla has just gone to first place- it has not been there before. The Camry has been number one CAR in the US for years, after it passed the Ford Taurus. (Ford and Chevy trucks both outsold the Camry in 2007, 2006, 2005, etc) Corolla includes the "Matrix" in their sales numbers, by the way. Corolla has been selling for 40 years, though, so the total sales worldwide are highest, by far.
Do you ever get that awkward feelin when the guy next to u stops in the exact same model?
i get that alot lolol
The Altima is not a niche car for a niche market. It is in the top 10 most sold cars in the US. If "uniqueness" was a factor for you, then you made a bad purchase.
I LOL at this thread though. There are far more expensive cars out there used as cabs. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, etc.
Pray tell me, what "respect" are you talking about losing in the first place? No, not saying that the Altima doesn't have any, but what exactly are you referring to?
Later edit: Rizaman and Wendy Kay voted yes. I dunno about you Rizaman, but Wendy Kay you sound young to me. Why'd you get a family sedan instead of a ... I dunno ... Eclipse, just like every other young girl out there? I don't see any Eclipse cabs.
As if being a cab driver is a sub-human endeavor. What's next badboy, topics about "Altima and respekt: is it being affected because midgets drive them?"

im a nyc cabbie myself for a BX Company, not yellow cabs downtown and i drive my altima hybrid as a cab and people love it... im still getting 30-34 mpg in the city without ac alil less wit it on... instead of loosing respect its actually getting more respect for being a dependable car that can be driven hard... got 20k miles on it already since dec. still running strong. i bought this hybrid with work in mind. doing updgrades slowly and gonna continue till its unique as can be...already got the oem fogs, led brake lights, se mirrors, and soon to come 19 inch rims, exhaust, intake, audio and video upgrades and even considering ait body kit.....oh yea forgot to mention 6k hids also for headlights and fogs...lol... If you need A Cab in The Bronx feel free to PM me lol....
i think its props to the altima. cabs carry heavy and full loads, so a cab has to have good power under pressure, which this shows that the altima does well under stress, as well as can be "abused" and take it with class. this just further states the class and balls of the altima. i personally dont think the cab looked that bad. a definate improvement to the crown vics look
Looks fine to me. If you think about it, the Ford Taurus has always been classified as an automatic "rental car". The Ford 500 wasn't a rental car because of the name, regardless of the fact that they rebadged the same exact vehicle one model year later back to Taurus.
Since Enterprise rents out Altima 2.5's now, does that put it in the same boat as the Ford Taurus? Not in my opinion.
It would be very hard for the Altima to be most common car on the road, since they NEVER have outsold the competition. Camrys and Civics and Accords are everywhere. In May, the Altima was seventh, behind not only the Civic, the Camry, and the Accord, but also the Corolla, and the Ford and Chevy trucks.

The Civic is actually the #1 selling car in the US as it, the Camry, and Corolla all surpassed the Ford F150 which held the title for a LONG time (17 years).
