Just bought a 2007 3.5 SE altima, black exterior with blonde leather, Premium Package plus sports package. Floor Mats, splash guards, all included for $26,900. This is Habberstad Nissan in Huntington, NY (Long island). I was told it was a rare car for them to carry but im curious if that is true. The sticker was almost $30,000 of course no one pays that though. I am a little frustrated that someone got VDC for only a couple hundred more then me, I would have liked that feature. Is this a good deal or just what most people are paying?
I clearly don't know how to shop for cars, but I'll give myself a break since I'm only 21. How did you guys get these dealers to budge? My car was MSRP'd at 25.5, but I got it for 24.5 (TTL not included). But now I'm seeing all you guys getting these cars at invoice (or even below!). According to Edmunds, the average car is going out at MSRP, so I thought I did good. How did you guys get them down to invoice?
I did have a trade-in ('03 Altima), but I don't know if that would have made a huge difference.

Look.. I'm 21 as well and I pulled a great deal. All I did was work through email and got the deal I wanted. Make sure you go to the dealers inventory and see if they have exactly what you want. I mean you could go to another one and do a dealer transfer, but that's a little shady when it comes to that. One way I look at it is this.. I want a car for a great price, but the dealer needs to make pocket money too. 25049 I think was my price I got w/o the taxes and fees and 27775 otd (as stated in my previous post).
I figured I deal through email or phone, that way noone judges you when you walk in the door. Because thats all I got when I got there. Noone thinks I could afford a car or they think i'm playing around cause I'm young. Good luck.. if you need help just drop a PM and i'll help you out

Well I already got it, but I'm looking for advice for the future

That's a great site for info on buying car, it helped me out a lot, learned a lot of hold back and incentive, also read this ad on the fax/email attack
Surprised no one's mentioned Edmunds.com yet. Their TMV True Market Value gives you a good idea of a fair price for you and the dealer.
Of course, I don't advocate giving the dealer a fair price for anything...
I would say edmunds and carsdirect are good sites to know the highest you should ever go. those sites are updated as frequently as you would like though, for a camry carsdirect had $2000 over MSRP and edmunds had $500 over MSRP and I had a quote for $1500 off.
Got our 3.5SE w/ VDC Package at invoice price. It was a haggle-free purchase due to my family track record w/ the dealership. It's our 8th Nissan purchase from them, so I threw in the "family loyalty" discount clause. Just walked in, specified the car we wanted and mentioned that I would only pay at invoice.
