Just a friendly reminder - get new tires if you can afford them
Some of you probably already know, but some may not: the OEM tires that come with the Altimas suck major ass (the Bridgestone ones, at least). My mom wrecked her '03 Altima with these tires because their performance degrades QUICKLY, and ESPECIALLY with wet traction. They're just all around bad, and I highly recommend you replace them the first chance you get, for safety if nothing else (it'll help your handling too!).

^^ In case you're curious of what the masses think ^^
This was just a public service announcement
I think mine currently has these... I can tell they're not nearly as good as my former Goodyear Assurance ones on our other cars... but I will have to wait till these wear out to buy new ones. I hope I can survive our winter alright with these stock ones.
What should I get, what will it cost me, and will the TPS still work with new tires?
Road noise and comfort more important than performance I guess for me, since I don't do much "fun" driving.
just stick with what you have for now. after maybe 20,000 miles, then look to change. you ought to go online to look at reviews. TPS will work with any tire

These things are far from top-of-the-line, but I just can't bring myself to chuck 4 nearly new tires and buy replacments straight off. And I don't find them THAT bad. I recently drove through some SEVERE thunderstorms without about as much standing water on the road as I have ever seen an dfound the Altima very sure-footed. Now the Bridgestones that came with my '01 Maxima? THOSE things were suicide in any kind of rain at all.
I'm of course being a little overdramatic... but at the same time, all it takes is 1 bad hydroplane and your car could be wrecked. People don't really think about just how important their tires are when it comes to poor weather. With these tires, especially once you hit 15-20K miles, I started slipping all the time when I started goin at a stoplight from standstill. Obviously your life isn't at risk everytime you guys drive with these tires, but just be weary once you start to wear them in (they wear down QUICK).

they wear down quick, so you can buy tires when they weird down. i think the utgq is like 260 on those tires. not surprised they wear down quick. oh well, i'd much rather have the bridgestones then my conti's on my 16" rims,
I also have the Conti's and I am pleased with how they ride. I am pretty much happy as hell and impressed with how the Altima rides. Went from an '04 Titan to this car and I havent missed the truck since I have been in the car.
I took off the OE continental's and put the Bridgestone Turanza LS-T on and it made a huge difference. The EL400 probably wasn't the best tire for the 17's on the altimas but you can't really blame Bridgestone for designing the tire when they were going off of Nissan's specs. Bridgestone still makes the best product on the market in my opinion.
The Continentals on my 03 2.5 were so bad by the time I hit 15,000 miles, I had to get rid of them. They were pulling, bouncing and almost every other thing a tire could do without providing any kind of decent ride or control. I got rid of them and went one size (wider) to Pirellis. Best ride and control I ever saw from any tire. They were still looking and riding like new when I traded the car at 61,000 miles. I've got 13,000 on my 17" Bridgestones (on my 3.5) now, and no problems, except they don't seem to corner quite as well as the Pirellis did on the 03. Seems like the rubber is too hard to get a good grip.
