any Canadian hybrid owners know if their cars are prewired for fogs (if someone would check that would rock)?

Did you already check your own car? The diagram on page 1 of this thread indicates a wire at pin 86/87 would indicate "pre-wired". As well, if any CANADIAN Altima Hybrid owner IS pre-wired, your CA Altima still may not be due to geographical reasons.

Already checked my car I was asking to see if anyone had the wiring. If that was the case, I was going to talk to my contact at the service department at a Canadian dealership to see if I could get the wiring harness from them.

Damn I have the Loaded 2.5 SL with Tech package (Nav, Bose, the works) and no pre-wire...bummer. Someone should try getting the stalk and wire to those empty locations to see if it would work. I'm not getting fogs anytime soon or I would try it myself since I'm waiting on the body kits.

Thats what I'm going to do but I really didn't want the hassle of running wires through the firewall yet again...just running the 4ga for the amp and airbag compressors, not to mention all the sensor/valve wires through there was hell enough. I also do not have a good location inside the car to mount a switch so I would like to use the factory stalk and if I can't get it to work then I just won't install lights at all.

According to service manual, factory stalk is digital switch (mean no additional wire is needed to switch itself) and electronic block is ready to serve fog lights. So if you install factory stalk with fog, 86/87 connectors will have power. This will get rid of headache with installing aftermarket switch, relay and fuses. Just run wires from connector 86 and 87 to fogs (one wire to left fog and one to right fog). Additionally you will need to run wire to ground (electrical ground) :-), then attach connector and install fog lights itself.

Where would we ground the fogs? I am going to try to add 86/87 to that connector, then run the wires down with the headlamps, find a ground for the lights, and see how well that works. The only other thing for me now is to find a factory stalk.

I think the good way to go is to purchase stalk switch at dealership parts store. Then install the switch and test if the power on connector’s 86/87 appears. It should but you know… service manual may have errors.
If power appears then continue with wiring stuff and locating good point to connect ground. If it NOT appears, then return switch to dealership and get money back.
I'm going to do this way but not now, because it's very cold outside.. :-)
If you try it let us know how its works.
Thanks.

Basically ground connector can be attached to any bolt which is tie to metal. It can be on engine or vehicle body or run wire directly to battery. May be good thing is to locate where headlamps connect its ground. If you want to do it as factory install you will have to run wire to engine harness itself, but it will be more work to do. You can trace the harness and locate where ground is connected. It should be on both sides of the engine room on the top. If you need picture I can send it to you.

I was thinking intake or drop-in HID kit with some relays next month. Looks like I'm going to be debating either or those with a turn signal stalk...

I think I might just do the stalk because I have the fogs sitting here! If I do, I'll take pics and do a write-up. It might not be the best, but I'll see what I can do.
