So I understand everything that McFly said, but how does adding the stock send power to wires 86 and 87? Is there any additional wires to add or is replacing the stock the only thing necessary to get power to the wire connectors under the hood?

I just installed the whole OEM fog kit off ebay yesterday. It was the same seller MartyMcfly mentioned in his post. Everything fit perfectly except for the wire that ran from one fog light to the other. Had to unwrap the black rubber and splice the other connector farther down. They run awesome though. I didn't wire anything to parking lights, instead me and my dad just ran wires by the firewall right by the e brake for a standalone switch. For now I have a temp switch that came with the kit. But its shitty. Ill prob get a new one this weekend.

I just finished my install. It is very simple. Adding the stalk with fog control will enable pin 86/87. I believe these are soft switch, computer control, IPDM bascially pick up the signal and engaged itself. My car was not prewired. However, it is very simple to add fog. Just drop in stalk with fog control, run the one wire from each fog to pin 86/87 in IPDM and ground the other wires from fog wherever you want. That's all you have to do. Did my install in an hour.

I've just spent a ton of time reading through a lot of fog lamp threads and wanted to ask for my own sanity.

If my 2.5 SL is pre-wired because wire is connected to pin 86 and 87... does that mean I can just plug in the fog lights bought off ebay, plug in the appropriate stalk, and I'm good to go?

I'm getting lost when everyone talks about the non-wired Altimas and am not sure how easy it is when you're pre-wired.

Is there a pre-wired fog light install thread I may have missed?

Thanks.

Meanstreaker - That's my understanding. I can't say I know from personal experience since I am not pre-wired, but others that are pre-wired said that is all they had to do.

2008 Altima 2.5SL

I checked the fuse box and it looks like I'm prewired. BUT.... Where are the actual harnesses located? I tried looking for them, but I can't find either one. Thanks for any insight!

Yeah.. I also have the 2.5 S Conv. Plus Package, checked my fusebox and no wires in for 86/87. Wish I was prewired

Ok so just looked at mine, how do I tell if it is pre-wired....I looked under the hood on the drivers side fuse box....There is at 15 Amp fuse in there under the fog fuse, but I looked under the car by the fog light holes & didn't see anything. Is that where I should look or is it inside in the fuse box?
Thanks!!

you have to look under the fuse box inside your engine on the driver side
once you pop it open follow this diagram to see if your car is prewired (i dont think the actual numbers are shown you just have to check if you have wires inserted into 86/87)

Ok so if there are fuses and wires to 86 & 87 then it is pre-wired for the fogs....Where are these wires going to & what would it take to put the fogs in the car.
Thanks guys!
