600+ Miles Per Tank Club?

and im officially in the 600 MPT club. calculated my 100% city driving at 32.4 MPG. thats 648 miles per tank on alllllllll city driving. i cant wait to see what it is on the highway this summer. i forsee over 750 miles a tank at this rate.

City driving and 648 per tank! I drive 80% hwy and 20% city and drive no more than 68 mph and like a grandma and can pull no more than 615 out of the tank (well probably could but not much since I'm about 18.5 gals when fill up) and thats 33.4 MPG. I'm not sure 750 is attainable and sure would like to see the odo and fuel gauge when it is. The best 1/2 tank I could get is 357 so far but it seems to drop off quiet fast after that.

Every week, I drive ~500 miles. Roughly 80% highway/20% city. I try to stay at around 70 mph on the highway. At the end of the week, my car takes around 15 gallons to fill. I average anywhere from 30-33 mpg each week. 600 miles would take me a bit more than 18 gallons. Not sure I would want the tank any lower than that.

Filled up last week, drove around town to eat, shop over the weekend, then a 220 mile round trip to Lynchburg to visit my daughter, wife took her shopping downtown, then drove to work, 60/40 split between highway and city.

Over 350 miles on this tank, and my computer is saying 37.6 mpg. Typically, it's 1.5 mpg high when I check it at fill up.

I've got the 6M, and I do practice some of the hypermiling techniques, like coasting down hills, to stoplights, etc. I do not drive slow, and no, I do not coast at ridiculously low speeds and piss people off behind me. I absolutely will not coast with then engine off. That is crazy since you lose power steering and power brakes. I also don't pump my tires up 15 psi over the recommended pressure, in fact I've had the car 3 months now, and I have yet to check the pressure in them.

I've said it before, the Altima is one fine rolling vehicle. It's a shame the CVT can not take advantage of that.

That said, it's certainly conceivable that some people (if they want to push it) could hit the 700 mile club, given the right driving conditions.

Forgive my skepticism but I dont think you calulated correctly. I dont think this is possible.....prove me wrong but telling me wont prove a thing..I could "forget" to reset my trip next time I fill up and hit 900 miles!! It doesnt mean a thing if its completely impossible.

These cars are rated at 24 MPG period. Thats a fluffed up number even. I drive my car locally with only occassional highway so Im on go stop traffic due to local street lights, stop signs, etc. every week and the best I could get with babying the hell out of the throttle is 480 miles on 18.7 gallons. Im only about a little more than a 1/4 tank through my most recent fill up and im at 100 miles and this is with not once getting on the gas and always keeping my eye on the mpg bar. (I have an 08) I expect to be at around 500 but not even 600 is possible for me in this type of driving. 600 I can see on highway as discussed but I think you are mistaken my friend. Time to calculate again Id say.

Did 1016km on a single tank (that's over 600 miles) in my 3.5SE 6MT on a roundtrip between Toronto and Montreal (almost made it all the way back!) This was ALL highway (401/20/720) except for about 25 minutes of stop-and-go in Montreal.

Reported trip computer mileage was 7.1, actual fill-up mileage was 7.3. Average speed on highway was 102 kph. No AC was used. Car has 22K km on the O and had an oil change immediately before the trip. Running Shell 91.

The tank was pretty much on fumes when I filled up.

Oh, and I'm here in Calgary this week and drove my mom's 5MT 3dr Yaris on some long highway segments, and it gets 5.0 on the nose. But I think it's powered by a wound up rubber band, not an internal combustion engine! I'd find it hard to give up the 3.5 VQ...

Most people go by car computer & they are all not accurate @ all.

I just got back from my trip to Seattle and I averaged 31 MPG from Seattle to Los Angeles. I drove straight through and didn't stop. I figure that's not bad considering I went over 70mph most of the way and there were a lot of mountains to go over in Nor-Cal and Oregon. Total time in Altima was about 18 hours and average speed was 68mph. I didn't keep track of the MPG on the way up. I have an 08 2.5SL. I noticed MPG improved greatly at speeds between 50-60. Anything over 75, drops immensely.

I agree with both Barry and Hotrodder....plus another thing most of you guys need to realize is that 600+ miles on one tank should be measured on one full tank. Filling up half way doesn't mean you "would've" gotten 600 miles. Unfortunately i didn't make the cut this week but i managed to pull out 550. Anyways when i was at half i had already driven 340 miles!!! So shouldn't that measure out to at least 700?!?!?! If you guys are gonna claim 600+ then do it from full to empty.

there must be something wrong with my car. i bought the car used with 28500 miles and i'm only averaging around 430 miles on a full tank! this is really bugging me!!! the computer says that i'm averaging 26.1 mpg and that should put me a little over 500 miles! changed it with mobil 1 synthetic last oil change (4.5 qts). any suggestions to help with mpg? i'm a conservative driver too .. 70/30 city/highway.

filled up today for 18.016 gallons, the trip meter had 441.9 miles, that's 24.5mpg. computer says 24.6mpg with average speed of 26.2mph. 100% city.

haven't reset the computer since i got the car.

the most ive got so far, which is almost all highway driving, is 970 km, could of got more km but had to re-fill

I can assure you I measure with full tanks only and can easily and consistantly driving at 75 and hit 530 on 16-17 gals and driving 65 I can hit 605+. I can also tell you this is driving habits as when my wife drives it she for some reason can get close but not close enough. I don't care if you believe it or not. For me this is fact.

Bro, i'm not doubting that anyone is able to get 600+....i know it's possible to get 600+, my friends were completely shocked when i told them that i got 550 when some of them can't even get over 400. I'm jus sayin people on here who are claiming 600+ need to do it on a full tank, not a half tank, then fill up again then measure out until it gets to half again. And when i ended up filling up i still had 2 gallons left so i could've run it down to the tip and i definately would've hit 600, i was jus a little nervous as far it would really go.....

I haven't been watching this thread much but I've been popping in once in a while the past few days.
I'm a little confused at the theory that you have to use most of the fuel to get a good reading on MPG.?.
If I fill up, then drive 100 miles and then fill up again, take the gallons I just filled up with and divide by the 100 miles I just drove, how is that not as accurate as if I drove 500 miles and did the same thing?
Just curious as to what the thinking is here.

Theoretically, I could probably get 800 miles to the tank in my 2.5 if I ever really put it to the test.
