Anyone know how to get the swirl marks out of the clearcoat? I have tried almost everything, and of course its on a black altima, but i just got my bumper re-painted and the rest of the car looks out of place, the dealer said to try carnauba wax? but i dont want to spend money on something that will not work
Black is the toughest color to keep up with and have perfect. There is a product that is made for waxing black cars. It is a 3 step process. But swirl marks show up easily in black.
Turtle wax I think has a wax system for black cars called "The Black Box" (Amazon.com: Turtle Wax T3KT Black Box Car Wax Kit: Automotive hope the link works) Also I think they make a regluar black tinted wax as well that my buddy used to use and said was pretty good. Black sucks to keep clean I will never own another black car again.
Meguair's NXT 2.0 wax works wonders. If you use it on a black car with texture-free paint, it'll turn the paint into mirror. On the Altima, though, it does a great job of hiding swirls, and lasts for a decent amount of time. It also repels water unlike anything I've seen.

No, clay bar will not remove the swirls, it removes paint contaminants.
Take it to a good detail shop and get it done right. If you DIY it wrong it will look even worse.
This should get moved to the detailing forum, you will get better answers there.

i hear you bro, i've got a super black too that's a little over a year old. i used to use a brush to wash my car until i realized it was making massive amounts of swirl marks. i did a clay and wax with an orbital waxer, spent a good 3 hours atleast and i got a lot of the swirls out, still some left but it's much better. i'd probably suggest you get it professionally detailed, but if you want to save some money just diy

I've been using this stuff for years called Super Glaze from The Wax Shop. It's super easy to use and does a great job. It's a liquid carnuba wax. It doesn't have any abrasives in it, but it will hide small or light swirl marks. It also doesn't leave any of that powder residue behind. I usually apply it when the water doesn't bead as well. About 2 or 3 times a year.

Better stock up while ya can, looks like they're no longer making it. Its being replaced by something by Wax Depot, probably the same thing but ya never know.

Shit, didn't know that. I really like that stuff. I might have to stock up lol. I did buy some of this DuPont teflon spray wax, in a spray-bottle applicator. Haven't tried it yet. I think it was only $5-$6. We'll see how it works. I need to wax my car soon as it's getting into late fall around here.
I've had my car "professionally" detailed, hoping to remove the swirls. The car looked fine for 3 days; then after the coat of "wax" they applied evaporated, my car was left with even more swirl marks than before. Looks like a 10 year old car before I put on Meguair's NXT 2.0 myself. They must have applied too much pressure or used dirty orbital pads.
