Exclamation 80 mph

Well,it's quite obvious the leadfoot in you lowered your mpg. Around here there are these signs on the side of the highway that are known as speed limit signs.Even though it seems 90% of the population ignores them (especially on Chicago tolls) I tend to abide by them. When my Sentra had only 100 miles on it last month,I took a trip up north for my daughter's wedding. I kept it at 70 mph(speed limit is 65,they DO allow 5mph over) and used the AC for about 1/2 the trip.I also used the cruise control which keeps the speed steady and helps on mileage. I got 34 mpg. My last 2 fillups I've gotten around 31 mpg. This is with 50/50 hwy/city driving. 1500 miles on the car now.Back off on your accelerator dude and your mpg will go up, and quite possibly you'll save yourself $ by not getting a speeding ticket.

I picked up my Sentra at the beginning of July, it was a demo, had 1400 miles on it and is loaded. The computer said the car was getting 29.4. It now has nearly 3600 miles on it and and the computer says 26 and my calculations say worse. Sure, it's been a nasty summer, and I may not have perfect granny driving habits, but I bought the car solely because of the mpg and the reliability. The dealership that sold me the car was horrendous and took 7 weeks to get me my owners manuals and now this. I have to admit that I am still stunned at how large the interior is, I need a lot of head and leg room and I have room to spare (w/o opening the sun roof).

I've been getting around 24 MPG's (mostly city driving), probably due to my driving habits though. Plus I have my air on most of the time.

AC Use

Decided to drive around the last two fill-ups without the air conditioning on.

Surprise... avg 31mpg 50/50

with the a/c on, I'm avg 26mpg 50/50

Does this seem appropriate? Not to me...

Hi

new Sentra owner (2.0 S), just traded in my 99 civic a couple of weeks ago. I have a rather long commute, 180 miles round trip each day, 5 days a week. My drive consists of the following: 65% of the trip @ 60 mph using cruise control, the other 35% is mixed city driving at speeds around 45 mph. So far my average fuel ecomony has been 35.5 mpg (according to the trip cpu) and I have confirmed this by measuring distances between fill-ups (I also use the A/C 50% of the time). My 99 civic averaged about 30-32 mpg. For those of you who do not recieve the expected fuel eco of the Sentra, let me point out that how you drive is the most important factor. Even my civic which is noted for fantastic fuel eco would only get about 22-25 mpg if I accelerated too fast off the line or during passing, the Sentra does one better in this regard because it doesn't have to downshift, the civic's automatic was lethargic and held back too much power, whereas the Sentra delivers power in a much smoother manor.

Just bought a new 2008 Sentra S. So far it's reading 9.6L/100km (24.5mpg US), which is primarily city driving with minimal cruising at 60km/h. This is all to and from work. I only have about 270km so the engine is far from broken in.

Had an 08 for a 2 weeks

Ive got an 08 S and I get varied results.

On the highway with lots of ups and downs (i-10 in west Texas) I averaged 31.5mpg with a really hard crosswind.

On the way home doing 65-70 I averaged 35.1 MPG.

All in all mixed driving I get about 29-31 overall.

Ive got 2000 miles on it since we bought it a couple of weeks ago... about 950 of that was in 3 days. I averaged 78MPH overall on the way home and achieved 33.1 MPG!

This car will scoot quite well and the CVT is the most refined I have ever used.

How can you not get great mileage when you only spin 1950 rpm @ 65mph?

So far I am very satisfied!

Now I need tweaks and mods...

Not very god gas milage

I got my 07 sentra at the end of April. I drive moderately. Not fast off the line and pretty light footed.
My car now has about 11,000 miles.

Initially, the gas mileage was about 35MPG HWY and about 28 City. However, the mileage has dropped significantly to about 28 HWY and about 22 City.

The car has been maintained per the service schedule. Tires have been rotated and balanced twice. The second R&B improved the gas mileage, but not by much. I am still rather dissapointed by Nissan's milage claims.

The car has developed an alignment problem and I am taking it in this week for the adjustment in warranty. I just found out from the dealer that the car has a 12 month or 12K mile adjustment period. I wish the sales people would tell you that.

Maybe the alignment issues will take care of some of the lost mileage. I have read that the sentra has some slight alignment issues. I would have to concur.

The car is nice and has many creature comforts. I bought is as a small, fuel efficient commuter car. It's a great car for the price as long as you remember that is it not a sports car.

The engine is loud when you are trying to accelerate and pass other cars. Otherwise, it is fairly quiet. The car does have a soft ride. Maybe too soft in some cases, but just be aware this car is in it's element when it is going straight and turns are few.

If that's what people are getting I'm going to have to go with my other option, the Civic Hybrid. If it gets 35 or so, I'm in! 25 is significantly below the EPA ratings. So what are you getting?

I have owned a 07 and an 08 sentra CVT. both were averaging about 30.5 MPG on the trip computer. However, I make a point when accelerating that the tach never goes above about 2100 RPM's and keep my foot off the accelerator and "coast" when coming up on intersections when I know i am going to stop or have to yield. I know this sounds like work to remember all this while driving down the road but once you start doing it, it becomes pretty much part of driving and I don't even realize i do it anymore. And it affords me great MPG!!

I should have been more clear, I am now getting 30.5 MPG. Driving the vehicle like most people (my wife) seems to drop it about 4 MPG. I know this because when I drive it, I always got 30.5 MPG and after she drove it for a week it was always down to 27,28 range. After she totaled her 07, she admitted she drove to fast and aggressively and states now that she now drives like me. I belive her becasue she is now getting the same mileage I am used too.
