How many MPGs does your Sentra CVT get?

I am in the market for a commuter car. I wasn't really looking at the Sentra until I went to a dealer looking for an Altima Hybrid and happened to drive a Sentra CVT. I really liked the features, like bluetooth, intelligent key, etc. Fuel economy is very important. The user rating on fueleconomy.gov only average out to 25.1 MPG. If that's what people are getting I'm going to have to go with my other option, the Civic Hybrid. If it gets 35 or so, I'm in! 25 is significantly below the EPA ratings. So what are you getting?

One of my friends is reporting 32MPG. I didn't ask what kind of driving that was, so I'll assume it's mostly highway. I think 35 MPG is very doable if you are an easy driver. I'm not .

The civic hybrid is having issues with reliabiility and has more than a few recalls currently affecting it. It actually still may be a better choice even with all the issues.

Yup. That's the conclusion I came to. The recalls so far are not major mechanical issues. Honda has been making hybrids for many years now, and they seem to know what they are doing. I picked one up last Tuesday. So far, I've been averaging about 49 MPG. Over 500 miles and I have not yet taken off the gas cap. I am really happy with it. I would have probably bought the Sentra if the real-world MPG was around 35.

It's actually my wife's new car, however, with the trip computer she's been averaging 34 mpg in mixed driving. We liked this car for it's cabin comfort and she'snever had a lead foot. Hope this helps!

Just to follow up. I just filled up my Civic Hybrid for the second time. It went 608 miles on the tank and got 51 miles per gallon. From what I have read that will get significantly better after the first oil change. I wish it had the bluetooth and the nifty key that the Sentra has. Oh well.

Hello everybody, I have a question for someone I know. She has an 07' Sentra S with CVT and the car is making an average of 23-25 mpg, why so low? Help appreciated.

When I was researching this car, that's what I found. That's the kind of mileage they get. That's the reason I didn't buy one. It's too bad. It's a nice car and would be a real winner if it got decent fuel economy.

Thumbs up

I purchased an 07 Sentra SL 2 weeks ago. The first tank was 90% highway and I got 34mpg. The next tank was 50/50 cty/hwy and I got 31.8 which was almost excact what the trip computer was reading (31.7) I have 800 miles on it now so I imagine the mileage will get a bit better once it's broken in further. Note : I'm a featherfooter and prefer to pull away from stoplights easy. Going easy on a car helps make it last

Also, the people that complain about the CVT being too noisy are most likely leadfoots. I can barely hear the CVT and Engine while pulling away normally.

I get anywhere from 23 to 28 w/ 50/50 city/hwy

Not too good, and I consider myself a somewhat light-foot.

First 600 miles so far on the car and I'm getting 19-22 mpg with mostly city driving and a small bit of freeway driving. Whoever put 29/36 mpg rated is a damn liar. I still would have bought the car because it's great but the mileage on the dealer sticker is just flat false advertising.

And with the new EPA ratings on 2007 - 2008 vehicles, it's even more blatant false advertising. With 50/50 I would expect to at least get the minimum 29mpg . 28.1 isn't even close enough with 50/50 cty/hwy

i have been getting anywhere from 27-35 in my sentra, but i unfortunately don't meet your criteria (i'm a se-r spec v with the manual) but i would say its generally safe to assume that because the other models with cvt are rated higher on mpg that you could see my gas mileage or higher no problem if you are careful with your driving habits!

I purchased a 2.0 S w/CVT 8/8/07 and I have approximately 800 miles on it. Typically I drive 20% city 80% highway and lately I've been a pretty light foot. Only from time to time, I will accelerate hard.

The first time I filled, I calculated about 26 mpg, but I am not sure how many miles were driven by the deal..the tank was "full" but I know some miles were driven on it. The second time i filled up, I got 28 mpg. It isn't getting what the stick says, but I'm still happy with it. I was worried after reading lots of mpg ratings.

I am taking a 1000mile trip this coming weekend, and I hope to see how well the mileage will be.

Well, I just got back from a 1,100 trip and I wasn't too impressed. I only averaged 28-30 mpg doing almost all highway, at speeds between 65-80mph...cruise was on most of the time.

I hope mpg's get a little better now the engine is closer to being broken in...about 2500 miles now!
