Mobil One 5w-20 with 20% Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO). Also, use MMO in tranny, radiator coolant ,and gas tank.

This oil combination was to thin.

Update: I use 15w-40 Mobil 1 with 32oz of Marvel Oil in each oil exchange. Continue to use 16oz of Marvel oil in Tranny, 4oz for every 10 gallons of gas, and 10oz in the radiator.

Rencently changed the knock sensor and it pushed my Mileage up to 450-465 M/T

I use Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic and swear I could tell a huge difference from the moment I drove it. quieter, smoother, idles at a lower rpm, and when i push the engine it seems more responsive.

You guys do realize that as long as you change your oil at regular intervals, it doesn't make a SINGLE bit of difference to the longevity of the engine which oil you use, right?

This is of course assuming you choose the right oil for the engine, if the manual says use synth, use it, make sure it's SAE and AIP approved for your vehicle, etc. It's the same as saying a higher octaine fuel is "better" than a lower octaine. It's only applicable to a given context, and usually, nah, almost never, is that context taken when people get around to discussing it.

Even the "worst" oils will get any engine well over 300k miles on newer vehicles assuming nothing else brakes. Sure you may get a 1 or 2 mpg increase with RP, but first of all, that's completely within error margins, you may actually be getting no better mileage, and second, the cost difference is NEVER going to pay for that small amount of additional gas, especially in a car that can get over 20mpg.

Heat and "smoothness" may improve with synthetics, but again, the normal dino oil is still within all specs that the engine was designed for. Only when you go out of spec do you start to damage anything.

I'm not saying don't go synth, I'm just saying if you can't notice the diff, go back and save your money. And no, you can't harm or leak an engine by switching back and forth, numerous oil companies have even said this. It's an old wives tale. But if you guys also believe in ghosts and god, so be it

Also, guys spending 20-60 bucks on oil analysis, those companies love you filling their scamming pockets. It's like saying an extra 100Mhz will be a noticeable difference on your computer. But hey, if you like throwing away money, I'll start up an oil analysis company

Sorry for the rant, just sick of all this misinformation, it's got to be causing millions of dollars of lost HARD EARNED MONEY!!! Don't buy into the hype, that's why it was created!

PS. Proof of this can easily be seen in all the old dodge's, chevy's, and fords I've owned or had relatives own that have gone over 300k with only basic maintenance. My old '82 Ram B250 was over 320k before the tranny gave, engine ran like it was new and all I ever did was change oil every 7k and plugs/wires every 30k! Oh, and it was almost always QS that I used

Flame away!

I like the longer oil change intervals that I get with synthetic. I probably save money by using synthetic and only changing it every 12,000K or so...

A most valid reason. Remembering the Sentra's are recommened at every 7k. There is a 70% difference between the recommended and what you stated. Assuming a regular oil change is $30, that means you can pay upto another $19 to come out even over two changes. So if a single synth change is $45 or so, yeah you will save money, and time.

BTW $51 is the break even for two changes so if synth costs more than that, it's actually costing you more, but still saving you time which could easily work out saving you money as well.

12000K = 12,000 kilometers. Notice his location
12000KM = 7500 miles
On a good synthetic, that's actually a very good OCI
Not sure where you live michael, but I pay no more than $22 for a 5 quart jug of good synthetic. Add in a filter at let's say 10 bucks at most, and that's 32 bucks that I will spend at most for my oil change. In actuality I've been paying $19 for PP 10w30 5 quart jug and $7 for a PureOne filter. I can drain it at 2K miles and still save money over having it done with dino at the dealer.

Didn't notice the k, sorry bout that. I was referencing average costs at the local lube shops. Obviously it will be cheaper if you do it yourself. I haven't done my own oil in over 5 years, three jobs and a family make you search for every minute to spend with the kids Oh yeah, and work pays for my oil changes!

Synthetic oil provides greater protection as time goes by since it is more resistant to breaking down as well as provides improved protection. It won't make a noticeable difference while driving, but it will keep your engine running longer and you might even see a small improvement in your gas mileage.
