Pots mod/resistor to increase power and mpg
Hi I am new to this forum, my fiance has a 2007 nissan sentra se. I drive a ford zx2 which I am very familar with not so much the sentra though.
Have one big question though:
Just wondering if anyone on here has tried adding a resistor or a pot to adjust the resistance in the MAF temperature sensor to fool the computer that the air coming in is cooler than what it actually is causing the engine to advance the timing. You can do this and get as much as 15 hp increase except for the computer will compensate for it in 3 days and be back to normal settings if you increase the resistance dramatically. If you increase it just by a little which will give you maybe 1hp increase but increase gas by 5-8mpg. Huge disccusion thread in teamzx2.com about this. I did it to my zx2 and only driving about 3/4 of a tank after doing the mod and went from 33-36mpg right off the bat with no driving changes and working on my 1st full tank now and is deffinately a good increase.
From my understanding this can be done with any car but just figuring out what the resistance needed is the hard part. I did my car for .99 cents and 10 minutes very easy.
More or less it is doing the same thing as a superchip or whatever but just a whole lot cheaper.
Appreciate any comments or concerns with this mod.
Thanks
