Pimped up i agree with you.. I jsut got the brochoure for the car, and i must say I am suprised. The interior is flawless. Paddle Shiffters, cant wait til my lease is up lol. The interior is the same as the g35, even better cuz it got paddle shifters lol.
If that is a picture of the new maxima then.......BAAAAARF. Nissan needs to go back to the 4 gen design. As a current owner of a 97 Maxima I am still impressed with its sleek design and angles. Everytime I wash my maxima and get it all shiny and new looking I have to step back and just stare and what a great job nissan did on that generation. I am sure others will disagree and say the 3rd gens were king or the 5th gens rocked the house or whatever people say but I will stick with my 4th gen. It has that kind of sleeper look to it. Back in day when the 4th gen was more popular and the rice rocket civic owner thought they were badass with their two door they always were surprised when a 4 door family sedan roared passed them on its way to 150. Civics were a dime a dozen it was so come to see one go buy with a fart can and maybe wheels but to see a maxima with a quality exhaust, rims and lowered said a little more then I am just blending in with all the rest.

I just read in motor trend magazine where they tested a 09 Max against a 08 Pontiact G8 GTP which will be in the same price bracket. Well the Max won in a couple of categories, MT actually liked the exterior but they saw it in person. It probably is a different car in person. They also like the interior. They had the Maxima 3.5SV with the luxury package but they really wanted the sport package. Anywhot, the G8 GTP killed the maxima in performance categories. Max 0-60 was 6.1, really dissapointing as the 270 Horse Altimas are running under 6 secs to 60. The G8 stopped from 60 19 feet earlier than the Max and the G8 outweighs it. 0-60 for the G8 was 5.6 Secs. Hopefully the Max will get quicker as the CVT tranny is broken in. That seems to be what happened with the CVT Altimas. They started out around 8 seconds and then went under 6 after later tests. Maybe the SV sport package can get better braking and acceleration with better tires and suspension. The jury is still out but I must say from what i just saw, the Maxima is not ready yet. In order to get back to its 4DSC status it must be able to knock of the pontiac G8 like the early Max's knocked off grand prix's and other offerings.
I have to agree that the front is somewhat ugly but I think the car as a whole looks 100 times better then the 04-08 models.
ace_khreem, The G8 used in the comparo was just a GT. The GTP package is not used on the G8.

I have to read this comparison but I wonder why they didn't compare it with the V6 G8. Of course the V8 will spank the Max in terms of raw power but these two cars are very different.
I see the Max as as "cruiser" and the G8 is something you drive to have fun and burn a little rubber. You have the FWD vs. RWD to consider, and if gas mileage is important you have to know the V8 will use considerably more petro.

Pontiac has indeed come a long way....
Yeah they know the Max would spank the v6 g8. They even stated themselves that they expect hate mail about comparing RWD V8 vs. FWD V6 but the point was that both are considered sports sedans for around the same price. Thats right, the gas mileage on the max was better than that of the G8. Also the Maxima is supposed to be a fun car to drive maybe even more so than the G8. Well it used to be and they are trying to get back to that formula. Funny thing about all this tho, is that the Nissan is made in america and the pontiac is made in Australia.

That is correct, I got ahead of myself there. It was a GT model. Im actually hoping I have my money right so I can get into the G8 GXP when it comes out. Sorry I may have to leave the Nissan Family especially when the manual trans G8 hits the showrooms. I do like this Maxima but they could have went ahead and made it a cool 300HP and why not AWD?
This car has the styling of a potato mixed in with a little camery. What on earth were they thinking?! The previous generation of maximas were out there but they grew on me. Atleast from day one I didn't throw up in my mouth at the sight of them.
Unfortunately nissan you've made a mistake. Hopefully you'll get your money back for this one over a couple years, and we can expect another overhaul (just like the 00-03)
