I think the Infiniti FX50 is sicker looking than the X6 but thats just my opinion. I think the FX50 is quicker too, although either of BMW turbo engines could be easily tuned to overcome the FX50 NA power. All of this is about personal views. So state things in your opinion. The next gen maxima, and every new pic I see of it Im kinda starting to see where they are going here. People are saying it looks like this and it looks like that but the reality of it is (IMO) it doesnt look like anything else out there, still looks good, and thats the best part of it. You will not pull this car up next to anything else out there (IMO) and say it looks like that car. Every other car out there is going to that same wedge but round shape (IMO) Im seeing everywhere. Nissan is trying to do something different so either blend end or be a little different. I think that is the new Maxima.

They had the Maxima 3.5SV with the luxury package but they really wanted the sport package. Anywhot, the G8 GTP killed the maxima in performance categories. Max 0-60 was 6.1, really dissapointing as the 270 Horse Altimas are running under 6 secs to 60. The G8 stopped from 60 19 feet earlier than the Max and the G8 outweighs it. 0-60 for the G8 was 5.6 Secs. Hopefully the Max will get quicker as the CVT tranny is broken in. That seems to be what happened with the CVT Altimas. They started out around 8 seconds and then went under 6 after later tests. Maybe the SV sport package can get better braking and acceleration with better tires and suspension. The jury is still out but I must say from what i just saw, the Maxima is not ready yet. In order to get back to its 4DSC status it must be able to knock of the pontiac G8 like the early Max's knocked off grand prix's and other offerings.
Its funny that you mensioned the Pontiac. My mother has an 06 Pontiac V6 GT for over a year now. It has 21,000 miles on it, and that thing is so falling apart OMG!!!It feels so freaking cheap! You canno't see anything from inside of the car. My first wip was a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM back in 2005. I got it with 4,000 Miles on it... i thought that the owner has killed the suspension or smth? I bought the new schocks / struts, they died after 5-7,000 miles. I sold it after i had it for 5 months, it was worthless thing ever! Pontiac is the car that i would never buy for sure!

I thought the new Maxima's were ugly until I saw one in person at the dealership today while I was getting my oil changed. I take back every negative thing I said, the new Maxima's look amazing. (To clarify, it was black, SE w/ spoiler, black leather, no tint, and the 18inch rims).

I've seen a few at the local dealer and I really like this car. The interior is well laid out and the curves of the exterior give it a sporty look. The 19" rims are awesome!
I got to drive my friends car for a short distance when I was in Ct. last week and loved the exhaust tone from the inside. He would rather it be a quieter tone but for me it was perfect.
Sure wished this car came with a manual..............

i agree with the above two posters, pictures do not do justice to this car. you must see it in person to get the real feel of what this is about. that one look from the front will make you fall in love with this car...

Yeah I finally saw one in person and just like I thought, its a hella difference. The one I saw was black and it was naaaasssssttyy! When I say nasty I mean nice. It looks kinda bossy. I like its flare. The car had everyone staring. Lots of double takes and neck snapping. I saw it riding on base near he Post Exchange.

i've been skimming this thread and thought i'd share my experience

i had the opportunity back in june to go to Nashville TN where the 09's are produced. Nissan has invited 10 maxima.org users and i happened to be one of them. well i'm a little late sharing this but i will just say in person the car is awesome! i didn't like the pictures i first saw but the first time i saw it in person i was very very taken back. its a beautiful car. i also had the chance to drive the car. wow! the CVT was better than expected. i loved the paddle shifter. the sport mode acted just like a manual transmission. the CVT "shifted" its pre-set "gear ratio" and it was very firm and crisp. all the dash is soft leather and i thought it was a well thought out car. when money permits someday i'm sure i will buy one

Yeah i drove the new nissan maxima that is one bad mutha.. thats the only way you can describe it ..its 290 horsepower and D-chasis is awsome and gives great respons it also comes with 19's on the SE model with spoiler and three diffrent types of shifting auto, autostick n sport auto mode... the steering wheel is alot smaller to enhance the sport feel to it with a beautiful spoiler and they all come with sunroof the SL model is the most equiped with dual sunroof and rear bucket seats and stereo controls in the rear arm cupholder.. I am blessed to work as salesconsultant at nissan and we are gettin a gtr... pimp as that sounds we cant drive it sucks.
