2013 Nissan Altima Oil Change

Hey everyone,

So my new Altima is coming up to about 7000 miles soon and I'm need to decide where I want to take it for an oil change.

I used to have a really old beat up car and I would take it to Midas for a $5 oil change, quick and simple. But I've never liked Midas' service or their quality. I always felt they were cheap. I'm hesitant to take my Altima to Midas, espcially if oil change there is $25-$30.

Should I take my Altima to the dealership or to a private repair shop? Any insights will be appreciated!

BTW: Does anyone live in the Sacramento vicinity and can give me expected prices at dealerships (either in Sacramento, Davis, Elk Grove, Folsom...)

Thanks!

With it being a 2013, I would say bring it to the dealership, just in case you have issues with something down the road, in regards to the warranty. This will cover your butt when they come back and say, you don't have any service records, this isn't covered.

The oil alone will probably run $25 or $30 if I'm guessing (just picked up a 2013 Altima, so can't say for sure). But I think it uses 0W-20, and I don't think anybody makes a non-synthetic version to my knowledge. So you're probably looking at $50 at the dealership if I'm guessing, and that's probably only $10 or $15 for the labor. Well worth the money when you're inside the warranty period.

I think the manual recommends smaller interval than 7000 miles for regular oil. Synthetic oil should have a longer interval between oil changes.

You think incorrectly. The manual does not differentiate between regular and synthetic oil. Nissan still recommends 3750 or 7500 miles, depending on use.

i personally wouldn't trust one of those chain lube places. either find a very reputable indy shop or a dealership is my preference
