Does first gear have a synchro?

1st gear isn't hard to get into from a stop. But let's say I'm slowing down for a speed bump , about 5mph, from 2nd into 1st , or from a slow 5mph roll in neutral, it can be a little difficult to shift into 1st. Is this normal? I read that double clutching can help go into 1st from a roll. Haven't tried yet. Just curious if this is normal to sometimes have difficult shifting into first from a roll. Should I not be shifting into 1st from a roll, even if it's as slow as 5 mph? In the manual it says the range for 2nd gear is 8mph to 17mph so I don't want to lug the engine by shifting into 2nd at 5 mph.

My first gear synchro gets more and more temperature dependent every year...as was the one on my old '03SE 5MT. I think the first syncho gets the most use and wears the quickest. When cold...it's sometimes 'hard' to push into gear...so I don't fight it. If I have to slip the clutch a little in second until it warms up then so be it. Sometimes a little waggle in neutral and shift into 2nd beforehand seems to line things up better...YMMV.
