Man I really wanted to get the Ksports...but with all the noise issues I keep reading about, I think I'm going to hold off.
Well, i can clearly understand why you saying that...
I`ve been thinking the way you are, just few weeks ago. I was ready to pack them up in a box and throw away, but its not the Ksports that makes the noise, its me who can't install them properly. LIZL - he is right, he intalled them properly and he loves them, thats what i will be doing soon too when i get the chance to reinstall them.
By the way, Tein Suspension makes same noises. Nismos? even they makes same nosies, but probably less than KSports. Which holds the road better? - KSPORTS
I 'tried' lilz's remedy. I did nothing but strip the hex bolt on the inside. The thing was already torqued on super tight. So I changed nothing...the knock is very well still there
are you sure you took off all the load on strut/springs before trying to tighten the strut to the top plate???
if you did do that, then it may just be the strut itself...D2 had a batch of struts for which they used a different oil in the strut then they normally used to, and they caused alot of popping noises and wouldnt compress causing something else in the suspension to take the shock...they replaced my struts under warranty, I paid for shipping, but it was well worth it as I have not had noises for almost a year without even readjusting, and a cold ass winter right now...

When you called them in, what did you tell them? And to get them replaced by the warranty, do i have to take them off and ship it to them? Or they will ship it first to you and than you ship your old coilovers to them? How this all thing worked out for you, can you explain?
i found a website, i believe it was a toyota or toyota camry discussion forum to be more specific...bunch of ppl complaining about noises and what not from D2's, and a post was made by the guy hosting the groupbuy and/or mike from urbanimport who runs D2 North America about a defect occurring in a number of struts due to using a different oil manufacturer then they normally used...I called in, explained my problem and told Mike that I heard about the recall...He said it did not apply to the altima coilovers and asked me what I had done to troubleshoot...I had mentioned the above process to him, as well the fact that I added energy suspension coil spring isolators as well...He told me he would replace, but I had to pay like 60 bucks for shipping to Canada...
I put down a core deposit of $50 per strut, plus shipping...received new struts, and shipped back the olds ones within 90 days and got reimbursed my core deposit...pretty simple...installed them the same way I did the first time, and no noises 99.9% of the time...in the winter now, I get the odd clunk and what not, but there is alot of snow on the road/driveway creating extremely uneven driving conditions, and its freakin cold, and im sure suspension does not like the cold...
