i changed my wheels a couple of days ago...painted the calipers and saw that parts were very rusty so i cleaned them, they were almost like new...then it rained.
can i use the caliper paint that i have left to paint the rusty part of the rotor so it doesnt become like this again? and yes, i know i have to make sure it doesnt go on the braking surface. but the rest is ok, right?
I'm not sure if you should paint the rusty part of the rotor, not to mention how careful you would have to be to avoid the braking surface. Doesn't really seem worth it to me.
Some will say not to, some will say its okay... I've been debating painting that part myself. LSUtigerME spray painted his and has some good pics on his gallery. People that have painted that area, have said that even if you get some paint on the brake surface, when you drive around and brake, it will take off any paint on the break surface making a nice circle.
well you see, the kit i have is a duplicolor and even though they provided masking tape, i didnt even use it cause you paint it with a brush, its not a spray. so i dunno, i think ill buy a new brush and give it a try. theres no use in having nice mags when all you see behind is rust.
i painted the rotors on the back cause the ones on the front were pretty clean and are smaller so you cant see them as much. ill let it dry and see if it protects them from water at least a little.
