3rd gen front strut inserts

Well i've been toying around and thinking about doing the front inserts myself. I'm talking about the Koni inserts that active tuning sells. Well i wanted to know if anyone knew how they came up with the actual model strut insert they use(95-99 maxima). Basically i want to know if you could use a different insert. Maybe a different one for a lowered car for better travel.??? Anyone?
