unusual "grinding" noise while accelerating

My car has been making unusual grinding noises while I accelerate. When I gradually press down on the pedal, i get a metal to metal grinding noise but I can't pinpoint where. Could this be a problem with the muffler set up? or could it be within the engine? The sound is originating from the front lower part of my car. I've been trying to locate the sound for a while now, but had no luck. I have a CAI installed, could that be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I had a noise similar to this, sounded like a grinding whining type sound. Turned out to be my right rear wheel bearing. I replaced the entire hub assembly, and problem went away. That damn noise was driving me crazy, not to mention numb. lol
