^It HAD to take at least 10 minutes to type that...

Ground controls are $400 new. You might be able to find them around for $300 or less if you search around and maybe catch a deal. It's totally worth it though. I'm gonna assume that when you lower it your not going to cheap with it, I hope I assume correct. So say you'll probably spend $200 on a quality set of lowering springs, when you could spend the little bit of extra money and buy an even better quality set of suspension that you can fully adjust the ride height to make it PERFECT, and you can pick your spring rates for the springs.

^Shieet it took like 20 some minutes to type that shit lol.

And you already know when I lower it I'm not gonna go cheap with it. That's like I was telling blackalti, and everyone else who comes at my neck about the drop lol, I'm trying to do it the right way. And that shit ain't cheap. I was originally planning on going toks, eibachs, and tok strut mounts, but now I think I'm going to go toks, GC's, and tok strut mounts. Do you approve allblackout lol...

Are you talking about eibach pro-kit? I had pro-kits and tok's on my first gen and it definetly left much to be desired. The rear was a decently low height, but it barely even looked like the front was lowered at all. As soon as I put them on I was dissapointed with the ride height.

The only problem I see with the gc's and toks is that if you lower the gc's lower than 1.5 inches the toks life will be significantly shortened. As soon as I went past 1.5 inches on the toks they blew on me. Although I went to a little more than 2 inches, so I can't judge what like a 1.7 inch drop would do. If you really want to do it the right way, have long lasting very good quality struts, and awesome suspension characteristics I would consider koni yellow strut inserts. It's a little bit of work because you have to cut open your oringinal strut, but it's really not terribly hard. You then have dampening adjustablity which is awesome and you can lower the car safely however you want without worrying about the struts.

Theres only two things I'm gonna point out. One is that I don't know exactly how low you can go with koni yellows, but you can solve that problem by buying shorter koni yellows (at this point you can buy whatever kindof koni yellow's you want, either way your custom fitting them into the stock strut). The other thing is you can go with a higher spring rate for the gc's. The ride will be a little rougher, but you can run the car at a lower ride height without as much risk of the tires rubbing in the wheel wells somewhere.

Lol, sometimes I get into random suspension info modes. When the situation arises when you are buying new suspension, we can discuss this a little furthur. There is much more technical info to consider. Plus we gotta figure a way to do this since you want to run ginormous wheels but be lowered and I assume you're not going to want any rubbing. Why peeps gotta be difficult...

Damn man that had to take like 15 minutes to type lol.

Thanks a lot for the info bro. Definitely gives me something to think about and completely change my mind about everything I wanted. Co-sign about discussing it more when I got the $ and I'm ready, and thats prob not gonna be for a min. I'm trying to get it perfect tho when I do it.

And hell no I'm no gonna want any rubbing lol, but I got to have ginormous rims. Shit there is definitely room for some D's, and 17"s and 18"s are to little for me. Shit theres all these damn Crown Vics around me with 24"s and 26"s and shit, so I can do some 20"s on a Altima, f*ck that lol.

Alright people, update time!

I got one rim completely painted and done. I only prepped and painted one wheel tho, just in case it came out shitty, I was just going to buy another rim and keep them the way they are lol. But they came out beyond perfect, so much better than I expected. MANY MANY pics...

Rims before with tires:

Rims cleaned without tires:

Supplies:

Paint [Duplicolor]: Self-Etching Primer (DAP1690), Flat Black Wheel Paint (HWP104), and Clear Coat Wheel Paint (HWP103)

1 can of each for every rim:

Supplies: Scotch Painters tape, 3M wet or dry P220, P400, P600, P1000, P1500

And heres the finish product, after 3 coats of clear coat, couldn't have come out any better IMO:

Painted rim next to regular rim:

You can't even tell the rim has been painted. It really looks like I bought it like that. I'm so f*ckin happy with how this came out. The key to this project is taking your time, trying to make it perfect, and EXTREME cleaning and prepping.

And if anybody was wondering about how the Duplicolor flat black wheel paint is, or how it would turn out, you can make it very shinny, just as shinny as if you bought a brand new set of black/chrome rims, as you can see from my finished pics. The Duplicolor clear coat did the rim justice.

The next update will be when all 4 wheels are done and painted, and wrapped in brand new tires.

Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions, comments, etc. GREATLY appreciated!!!

Coo, eventhough its a looooong drive, lol. Over the bridge my ass!

But anyway, I want to paint my wheels too, but I just don't know what part of them I want to paint. They're just to damn plain. I wanted to paint part of them black to give the silver some definition. However, I'm now leaning towards painting them graphite, like my factory wheels. But IDK, i'm just playing around with the idea right now. I still should have gotten those xxr 510's

Yeah, sounds easy right. I still have the first set of wheels(adr victory) i had for the car. I put them on craigslist, but all the responses i got were ppl who flaked out.

I could try to sell the current wheels but I just don't have the time to deal with bs and my wife is not gonna allow me to have 3 sets of aftermarket wheels for 1 car, lol. Shit I won't even allow that to happen. But I'll figure something out.

Yea, I forgot you had those other set of wheels for it. They don't look bad now..so you can always wait, although black and chrome wheels would look nice on it.
