I might get my hands on some staggered 18/8 and 18/8.5 08 350z rims and just wondering if i could fit 225/45/18 on the 8.5 rim or if that would be stretching it too much...i looked on here and it looked like it might work... Wheel / tire size calculator / comparer - WHEELSMASTER

225/45/18's on an 8.5 rim wouldn't be too much of a stretch, but not too little also. if you don't mind the minor stretch look, do it. the tire stretch look is hot!
here are some 225/45's but on a 17x9.5 rim, 1 inch wider so your size tires won't actually be as stretched as these...
ok, i guess i was mostly just curious about the wear...i've heard that stretched tires wear a whole lot faster than non-stretched ones and i need some that will last me for a bit
i've read somewhere that they do wear faster, but i think its also cuz most ppl w/ the stretched tires have a flush fitment goin on so they're slammed to the ground w/ no fender gaps and toe + camber playing a huge role too...
ok, i shouldn't have any fitment issues though, right? I have 19x8 right now and with 225/35/19 and i'm right there near the fender...maybe a finger and a half in the front and 1 in the back.didn't know if the 45 would cause any rubbing...would you put the 8.5 in the front or back? I can't decide weather i would want them to look like a regular car or have the big ones up front...
Why not just put the right size tires on there and forget having to worry about your rims/tires blowing out or getting raped by the pavement, or the harsh ride? Even wear is subordinate to those other considerations, IMO.
There's also no reason to put staggered wheels on, however: 245/45 or 255/40 is appropriate for the 18x8.5 and a 245/45 for the 18x8 - it's going to look silly to a trained eye to see the larger wheels up front, but they should be there (as drive wheels). I dunno... I really don't understand why you're doing this.
in all honesty, i'm probably not, i just found a set of 350z 18x8 from an 04 for 200 that are in good shape...the staggered ones were 400 that i was going to see if i could get for 300...the only reason i was going with the smaller wheel was because i of the gap. For some reason, with my 225/35/19's i only have a 1 finger gap in the back and a 1 1/2 finger gap in the front...so i thought that if i went bigger-like 245/45, then i would have rubbing issues...I think, though, that i'm going to go ahead and get these others for 200 and go with those..i may have them refinished in a different color, like the machined grey or something...
do you know what your offset is for your current rims? and yes you would have to run the wider set up front cuz they'd poke out in the rear more than they would up front. most dudes that run a full set of Z/G rims run the rears up front and it looks just fine, even w/ the forged 19's from the G. imo running staggered w/ factory rims won't pull it off too well like an aftermarket set of stags. kevinbp639 i believe is a 4g member running a staggered set of axis 19's iirc. i was wondering why he was running that setup and had doubts on the looks but it actually looks pretty clean.
but if you decide to get those Z rims and get proper sizes for them, i'd get your fenders rolled...
hmm 19x8 +20... your rims should stick out from the fenders if that offset is correct. the 04 18" Z rims should be fine, just run the rears up front unless you don't mind the staggered look and wouldn't mind some stretching to prevent fender rubbing in the back. stretching ftw, + cheaper tires lol...
