Most likely to fill the gap between the FX and QX and gain market share, it's very likely that Infiniti is working on adding a third SUV to their lineup. Infiniti CX anyone?

Supposedly the CX25 & CX35 are now Nissan/Infiniti registered trademarks, we'll see how true this really is.
CX25 sounds like they're thinking about using the I4 QR25 motor. If they go the 2.5L route, I'd hope for it to be a V6 VQ25 though.
I wonder why no CX40 since the Frontier, Xterra, and Pathfinder all get the VQ40, not the VQ35.
Anyone think the FX will get a mid-life engine update replacing the FX35 with an FX40?
The CX is most likely a car-based SUV judging from the fact that the VQ35 has only seen use in car based platforms. Since the VQ40 is strictly a truck application engine, that's why there's no CX4(0) and why I'd say "no" concerning your last question. I remember reading on another forum about a guy who took a ride with a Nissan engineer who said they wouldn't use the VQ40 in the Z because while it has great torque down low, it gets weaker at higher RPMs (or something to that effect).

Do you think it (should it make it to production) will be car-based on the FF-L platform (Altima, Maxima, Murano, Quest, etc.) or car-based on the FM platform (Z-car, G, FX, M)?
Concerning the FX, they market it as an SUV so I don't see why it couldn't get the VQ40 in it's current cycle.
edit: Just noticed that none of the Japanese-built products have the VQ40 available. The only current Infiniti built in the U.S. is the QX56. If this next Infiniti is to be imported from Japan, I doubt it will get the VQ40. I doubt the VQ40 for the FX now.

I believe it will be on the FM platform since Infiniti has done away with FWD cars and I don't think they are going back.
Besides the point you made in your edit, the FX may be an SUV but they market it as being a sporty vehicle. Which brings it back to be VQ40 not having the power in the right place for a sporty application.
Exactly. The name indicates this (CX, below FX which is below QX). I'd imagine this to be a BMW X3 and upcoming Acura RDX competitor.
The CX will definitely be smaller than the FX & more than likely based off of the FM platform. Only makes sense for Infiniti to do this, but they may get into this market too late.
We'll just have to see when the CX comes to the marketplace.
I'd rather see them slot in a mid-sized between the FX and QX.
I would too, but with the names CX 25 & CX 35 this isn't possible. If they came out with a Infiniti Pathy (a la QX4) or some variant of it I would mind that.

You think we could slap 22s on it? That would be super pimp Nissan!
