Question Titan - Additional Gas tank

I am interested in adding an additional gas tank to my truck. We have a travel trailer and due to not getting much more than 9 miles per gal. we would like to by-pass a few of the gas stations when we are on a trip. Yes, I know I will need to stop by the local bank to flot a loan.

We love our truck but the gas mileage is not that great even when we are not pulling.

What are my options?

Has anyone found anyway to improve the milage or have they had any luck adding additional tanks?

Welcome.

I have actually been thinking of just upsizing mine to a larger tank but I have heard people talking about reserve tanks on other forums. Let me know what you find out!

msd ignition will help you somewhat... even if it is like 2mpg more; that is better than nothing and your engine will thank you. a nice intake set up will let the engine breathe better and possibly increase gas mileage also. just always check your air pressure and keep it clean

I've actually done a little research on performance parts that will help with both and I found the K&N FIPK 77 series is supposed to add ~17 HP and increase mileage and I'm getting a custom dual in/out Flowmaster exhaust that's supposed to add ~23 HP and help with mileage. These are just reports/studies I've read and experience from other Titan owners on other sites so...

I plan to, just have to get the money and do a little more research. The stats were actually dynos run on an 04 Armada SE so they shouldn't be TOO far off.

I picked up around 1.5mpg with my Volant intake and Flowmaster catback. Some people say grounding kits are good for our trucks, others think they are snake-oil.

^ I haven't really heard anything about the grounding kits but I will look into that, too.

Here's what I found about the K&N so far:

http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?ID=103

They also make this one that's a little cheaper but with less HP gain, and it's not legal for me here in CA:

If I can find the dyno pic again, I'll post it!
EDIT: Found it! Plus some info on the 2 diff K&N kits.

AEM also makes an intake, and here's that dyno:

http://trucks.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/...itan%20BFS.pdf

I'm sure the numbers between the 3+ companies are all similar; I've just been a longtime K&N fan so I'll stick with them.

Here's a thread from "another" forum about Volant vs K&N:
