If you want to avoid the Stealership, pay a visit to Autozone or other autoparts superstore, as they have code readers to help you on your way to what is truely wrong.

Give them a visit!

Good luck!

Most likely an 02 sensor

This happened to by 02 Pathfinder as well. Engine light comes on with nothing apparently wrong, engine running fine, etc. Turned out to be an 02 sensor problem. Fortunately, it was under warranty and fixed w/o a problem at the "Stealership." ha ha

Yep that's exactly what it sounds like. Had the same problem with my Path back in the day.

I had an '01..light came on for a camshaft sensor with around 34k miles on it. Rented the code reader, spent $70 on the sensor at the dealer and 10mins to swap it out.
