Things to look for in Early to Mid 90's Nissan Hardbody pickups?

Hey guys...

I've acquired my Dad's 88 F-250 that has JUST recently been repainted and repaired. 460 big block, 33's all around...nice truck in my eyes.

The problem however is that it's a bit TO MUCH truck for a semi-daily driver truck, and would goto waste. Now I know soon as I sell it, there will be a situation in which I would need it, however I have my choice of many different trucks to borrow if I need a full size truck (86 F-250 351, 93 150 5.0, 95 150 5.0, and an 05 250....or my buddy Ray has his new SE Titan ).

Because of this, i'm going to sell the 250 and look for a early to mid 90's Nissan Hardbody/Pickup. Frontiers are nice, but to new, and out of my price range. The biggest downfall, is that I'm not sure of what to look for in terms of the trucks weakspots and or problem areas. I'm not sure if the v6 is far superior to the i4, or if the automatic is any good.

Perhaps you guys could help put me on the right path of things to look for in the truck

(Wow what a newbish post from me)

i dunno, i have a '94 pickup... and well it does pretty well, i've never driven an auto or a v6, but my 4 has never had any problems, and has been driven really hard by my father... their all pretty good trucks from everyone who i know who has owned one.

Great to hear that Curt! How is the gearing highway wise with the truck? Are you spinning a bunch of RPM's or does it act pretty mild mannered on the freeway??

um... highway it's supposed to get about 27mpg.. but mines older and it gets about 24 mpg still pretty decent, but if your talkin down a 70 zone such as an interstate, then it's not too awefully bad... it'll run close to 3k rpms in fifth though... at 60 it's round abouts 2500, their a great truck i mean.. the only problems we ever had with mine is... the pulley on the a/c went out, and the clutch went out @ 265000 miles.

Sounds like the truck KA lives up to to it's great history in cars and 240's....

Again, thanks for the input on the gearing...sounds like it will make a perfect truck for me when I get back
