97 Nissan Hardbody Ka24e

I have a 97 hard body with the ka24e engine, it died one night on the way home from work like it ran out of gas, it was low but not empty. I put gas in and it would not start back. I changed the plugs, wires, and fuel filter. I finally got it to start, then it died again on the way home. Since, I have replaced the fuel pump, MAF, IACV, and timing chain.I can get it to start and it will idle fine, and if you rev it up slowly it will hit the rev limiter, it you do it fast and just lay into it, it will shut down, then when yo let off it will go back to idle. We checked the timing and it showed to be 3 teeth off on the cam gear(before the replacement), we put in the new chain kit and reset the timing started it up and still no change. Can anyone help?:

First off if you have a '97 its a KA24DE ...

If it idles right and its a revving issue I would look into the fuel pressure ... It sounds like its lean ....What is the pressure ...?? Any CEL or pending codes in the computer ?? Have you looked at the spark output ?? I have seen these short the coils so they idle good , but shut down on a load ...

There are no codes in the computer we have reset them. We did check the spark and it appears to be weak. The spark is yellow, I think that it should be blue. When we put the timing light on it, it works correctly, when you rev it the timing light will go off and then when you let off of it it will come back on. Can you replace the coil or do you have to replace the whole distrubitor? It says in the manual, that I have, that the whole distrubitor has to be replaced if something is wrong
