Ipod hookup?

My sister has a nissan versa and her husband wants to buy her something so she can hook up her ipod. She has the factory radio still. They have tried the FM transmitters and they found they didn't get good sound out of them. Is there any way to hook up an ipod to the factory headunit? Are there aux inputs on the back? Her husband is willing to purchase an aftermarket headunit, but he doesn't want to if it is not neccesary. Also, he went to circuit city and they said since the car was so new they couldn't install a new headunit anyway since no dash adapters are made yet. The OEM radio is bigger than a single DIN size. I hate circuit city so i don't know if this is true.

What are my options?

As Marshall said the Versa should have an AUX input. One end plugs into the headphone jack, the other into the AUX input. Switch tuner to AUX and go!

You may want to look into Peripheral Electronics The company creates modules that let you connect your iPod directly to a compatible factory head unit and browse your library with buttons on the head unit, charges the iPod, and get excellent stereo quality as you would a CD. If any questions or feedback, PM or reply back

if that is the regular model stereo with the standard cd player and not the stereo package then no, it does NOT have an aux input on the back.

Yea, but they don't make anything where you can control your ipod with the stock head unit controls on the versa. It would have to be an ipod compatable unit. Plus it was his first post, and just the way he said it sounded like a salesman from that company.

Nissan has ipod interfaces available for the ipod. the parts are about $250. Call nissan parts and see if the interface can be used on your model.
