Most states do require that you change your tags, if you reside in that state for more than 30 days..Georgia for one is like that.

I did mean Active Military only.

Yep. Burnouts, loud mufflers, and tint might get you some tickets..but drunk driving pushes the edge. If one of my friends ever tried to drive drunk I would seriously beat his legs so he couldnt make it to the car.

amen to that.I've had to wrestle one of my friends to the ground just to get his key's.
Some people just cant leave the driving alone after drinking.Ne-way... Great Info on NYS laws nysbikecop.I've gotten a couple for exhaust but got them thrown out.I've noticed up here though that the NYSP have relaxed on pulling over cars for exhaust violations lately.Town and City police have never really seemed to care up here, but the state boy's are rough.

so based on the tint laws, 35% tint is illegal, no?

i have 20% on one of my cars, and when i got pulled over, the reader showed 14%.... so does this mean theyre inaccurate as shit?

The readers are accurate the tints are not. They get calibrated.

hey, bikecop... i appreciate all the answers but dude stop being so uptight. You sound like the kind of guy that would live and die bye the NYPD as if they are perfect. We all know they screw up. Heck everyone here can say something about their employer.. Oh and that ticket i asked you about that you said basically (paraphrasing) " you ****ed up and should deal with it" .. yeah well court threw it out even before I touched the judge.

Why do they read darker... because the cop probably does not clean the glass before taking a reading. If you want to be proper he should use the proper solvents to clean the tint and glass before reading. Tint is the illegal thing on your car, not dirt. You can have as much dirt as you want.

Actually dirt doesn't do anything to the tint. At first his tint was darker than it was suppose to be. So it was illegal in the first place. Now if the reading is about 5% darker than legal and you got a tix then the cop is an ass.

If someone gets a tix for doing something wrong, don't cry and bitch. I'm not talking about you just in general.

I don't work for NYPD. Shit When I go home I could careless what happens at work. Work is work. While at work I let about 75% go. I've been doing this for 13 years now. I do it for the paycheck. But sometimes I do get the itch, and no one gets off.

Technically he can write you. It all depends on the officer. Me personal I wouldn't.

I chose 35% for my car hoping just that. Not so dark as to attract tickets but light enough to let me go lol.

And i will agree if its so illegal +/- a few percent wont make a difference but dirt on the windows DOES effect the reading.

And hey I appreciate the honest about the the itch lol. Atleast someone admits it.
