Question Anyone order nismo online?

I'm waiting to order my nismo catback. The dealer wants almost 1400! It's 6-700 online US.

Just wondering if anyone ordered it and what the final price was with currency exchange, shipping, taxes, duties, etc.

Thanks for any info

Oakville Nissan has it for $1175. I would talk to Jamie, the Manager of Parts, and perhaps he can reduce it more.

I have nothing against Nismo... I was researching same thing 2 years ago. To get the most value, I found out:

1. Don't be in a rush. Before buying any exhaust part, decide if you will ever buy headers. Even tho you can get headers with one high flow cat, you are deleting one (2.5L) or two (3.5L) normal flowing cat(s).

This choice has huge impact of total design, because headers always means sound level goes up several notches.

2. If you buy headers read this. Most of us probably should because of short lived cats in OEM header. So if you appriciate your engine, go first with headers only. Because OEM cats reduces sounds (just like resonators, silencers, mufflers), its going to be alot louder, and you may not want to replace any other exhaust parts. Many Altimas needs new components as they are only aluminized steel with limited life. For this need, there are Bosal, which sells OEM stainless steel replacement parts. Bosal is sold via Napa stores in Canada.

3. Purchase of Mufflers (and complete exhaust systems) can be heavy on the wallet here in Canada. The main reason is because of high wholesale prices and greedy importers. I ended up buying mufflers from Summitracing which has free shipping to US addresses. At the time, wify was on a trip to US, so I ordered to a hotel she took it home. No tax, no shipping. So wait until a relative or friend goes down south and have them bring it back.

4. Do not order or bring exhaust tubes from the US. Pipes are long/bulky and typically goes into the category of "oversized" when shipping, which equals at least 50% more cost, which in turn will increase brokerage fees (typically 25%). Cost of pipes (even stainless) at a local muffler shop is not badly priced. You could also source you own tubing from an industrial wholesaler and save a few bucks maybe... I never looked into that.

5. A locally made custom exhaust system cost less than any premade one. You just have to do some research first of what you are looking for, because there are hundreds of options.

6. The Nismo system is manufactured in US with off the shelf mufflers (I think they are Magnaflow).

Thanx for the input guys.

I figured it'd prolly run around the same price

Herman: Thanks for the write-up. Much appreciated. It's not overall loudness I want, but that that G/Z sound and Nismo seems to be closest from what I've heard. I wasn't planning on changing the headers, the mods have to stop somewhere, haha. I was thinking about a custom exhaust job, but I thought it might run me a bit more. Sounds like it might be a better idea though for future repairs. I'll have to call a local shop that can get me that sound and see what they say. Any refferals?

Thanks alot
