and while it is I am going to need to get a replacement car. I am looking to stay around $13,000 and have been eyeing up the Infiniti G20. Any opinions on it??? I drive about 80 miles a day round trip to and from work and need something good on gas and RELIABLE. I cant afford another butterfly screw incident. I have also been checking into some 02' Accords and Camry's, but according to MSN autos, the carmry have a bad engine rating. here Any other ideas as to what is around that price range and gets good mileage and most of all is RELIABLE would be appreciated. Oh another thing is it needs to be a 4 door since when I do have kids they will have to have a baby seat or 2 in the back.
Anyway, the main point of this thread was to hear if anyone has had any good/bad experience with a G20. 2000 and up (pref. a 2002). MSN rates it great which makes me http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/re...ings&tab=4#rel
Thanks guys,
Rich

I knew there had to be one on these boards. Maybe he can chime in when he sees this thread.
I just called about this one and its now listed at 13,900 so maybe I can actually get them a little cheaper. And i nkow this sounds dumb but its not an automatic which sucks b/c 80 miles a day isnt as enjoyable with a stick.....i dont think.

Depends on what kind of driving. Mostly highway driving would be no different. High traffic jam areas or lots of hills daily might be somewhat of a pain.
You know, I'm rather fond of the 99-02? G20's. I really like the look of those little things, plus they hold that fan favorite sr20 motor, and the aftermarket products.......................................... ..
Yea its been there for a while and they are trying to get rid of it. It is actually in the paper today for 13,990 and when I called thats what he said the price was at.
you will not win any drag wars with this car in stock form.
also as most of g20.net would tell you, if your car is decently maintained it will never see a mechanic in its lifetime. we really dont have a 'frequent problems list'.
at this point my car has almost 70k miles, automagic, and after taking the roofrack off recently i get about 355miles from 11gallons. thats like 33mpg. and i drive HARD.
i dont really know what else to say, theres really nothing to look out for when buying that you wouldnt look at with any other car.
if u do decide to go aftermarket, the possibilities really are large.
Nice cars. My brother has a black on graphite 2002 G20 5sp fully loaded. As of 2 weeks ago the car only has 7,019 miles on it and he's had it since it was brand new. He rarely ever drives it. In fact more than half of those miles were put on the car by me from picking him up from Philadelphia and NJ a lot.
the most important difference between the g20 and g20t is the LSD tranny. both 5-speed and automatic. otherwise its foglights, different headrests, heated seats, sunroof, mud flaps, spoiler, sometimes wheels. most of those options(except LSD) can be had on the non-t.
the easiest when it comes to turbocharging is the '99 model. '00+ ECUs dont like turbos so much, but piggyback E-magage works.
the 2002 didnt have a 't' option package. it had a 'sport' package. same stuff, different name but i'm not sure about the tranny. it also had 2 tone seats. and 16" wheels.
cloth seats and a manual climate control are rareties. supposedly it was very hard to order a g20 like that.
the rare color for us is 'maui blue'. its like a wrx blue. only 1000 or so ever made.
Thanks for the info. I am looking for something that really catches my eye and since I am in no rush really I can wait you know. I saw this on and I am guessing thats the color you are talking about it and I def like it. I can tell its rare b/c its the only one I have found online anywhere for sale. Whats a good price for one with around 50K miles. Non sport/touring 2000-2002?
that is the Maui Blue. that looks like the sport package but i cant be sure(fogs+heated seats+headrests). when the sun hits it, it alsmost has a very slight purple-ish hue up close to the naked eye.
depending on who you buy from i would say you can pretty much pick one up from anywhere between $9-14k. i bought my '00 with 34k miles for $14k. that might seem like a lot but it was bought from an infiniti dealership and it is CERTIFIED PREOWNED. which means my warranty is 84months/100,000 miles.
the price on that maui blue is a lil high when you count taxes etc.
oh ... your insurance might consider it 'semi-luxury'.
