wow, interesting idea. But what happens when you charge $200 to yoru card and the arm jams? or it picks up the wrong product? lol. I mean, people bang machines, tip machines, etc just to get a $.50 bag of chips! I can't imagine what they would do to get their ipod

"A robotic arm appears from behind the user module and gently transfers the product off of the shelf into a robotic delivery pocket, while Zoom Systems' optical technology ensures product delivery before the customer is charged," said Smith.
this is kinda kewl yet kinda scary... at least online vendors have people working behind the scenes, with this technology, no more sales staff and retail shops....
small retail shops are generally owned by the struggling middle class, i can just see already rich people buying up these 40sq vending machines and raking in the profits with little to no wealth distribution... i'm not usually this anti-trade and socialist, but this scares me a lil.

But really, has vending machine replaced 7-11? No.
And when's the last time you walk into best buy and talk to anybody?

talk to anyone in Bestbuy? Last week. I had to tell the sales kid to stop bullshitting people. I overheard the blueshirted, know-nothing moron trying to tell some customer that he could run Battlefield2 with no problem on the customer's Pentium-III IBM laptop with 2mb onboard graphics.... ugh.

I liked the guy at CompUSA tell these two girls that the Pentium M notebook computer they were looking at buying would last 6 - 7 hours on a charge. I was like WTF is that guy smoking.

Just the other day. I told the guy at the register that I didn't want the addon warranty on my $35 ethernet switch.
Before that it was to give the kid in the computer department a lecture on networking technology when his answer to my question "Where can I find an 8 port ethernet switch?" was "You don't want a switch, you want a router...they're better and have switches built in already so its like you got it for free.".
I know these guys are low paid, but why doesn't BB invest $10 in some training for their department?
