Get home last night and both the TV and the Internet connection are down. Call Comcrapst and they tell me the earliest they can come over is Monday. I tell them no way and to send someone sooner. Script monkey tells me that he can get someone in the cable TV division to come Saturday... then, after a bit more squeezing, I get a Friday afternoon appointment.
Now here's the kicker. He says that there's a possibility that I may be charged for the support visit! I tell him that if I get charged, "I'm outta here" and that if the past 7 years as a comcast customer mean nothing, they can just close my account right then and there.
Charge story gets dropped...
God, when will FIOS be available in my area? I so need to switch companies... They better not give me any grief about prorating my next bill because I just know the monkey coming tomorrow will find out the problem is at the outside tap and he will have to schedule a second appointment so some engineer can come fix it...

I hope you're right... Last time I wasn't so lucky though. I was having intermittent disconnects and the first dude had no tools to adjust the tap. They had to send an engineer to adjust the tap signal strength or some crap like that. I'll bet that my leg on that tap was going bad and they just did a patch job... Now it's gone for good.
Already made my appt to have FiOS installed at my house.
I hated Comcast and I hate Time Warner since they bought out Comcast.
The speed fluctuations with Comcast are horrendous. At times my connection goes down to almost dial up speeds, I call and complain and then it hauls ass for about 3 months and then it gets choked again.
I'm going to love the new fiber HDTV, phone and internet.

That is exactly what my pos comcast internet service does. It is so up and down all day long. I have had three techs out here and nothing gets done. Comcast is the only high speed available in my area FTL! Wish I could get FiOS!!
Thank God I have Dish network for HDTV!

you're not out of the woods with FiOS either ... my FiOS went down on Sunday afternoon during a storm, took the TV, Internet, and phone services with it. They didn't get anyone out to fix it until Tuesday (gave us a 1-5pm timeframe and then the guy showed up at 11am and no one was there). He got things back up for a short time but since Tuesday at noon things have been going up and down and he's been out to the house 4 times and has replaced the ONT twice, the battery backup, and the router. As of now the TV and Internet are working but the phone is still dead, but it's his day off... so I call Verizon to get them to try resetting the line remotely but that doesn't work so they schedule me for a Friday fix (tomorrow). Ugh. In 6 years of DirecTV and Earthlink DSL my services were never down for more than 30 minutes --- screw this 5-plus days shiat.
