Are they training you or anything before you start? What about public speaking classes just to get you in the role and all?
I've done public speaking before, not a big deal for me. I'm not getting much in the way of training except getting thrown in and figuring it all out. I'll have help from the other teachers at the school, but I'm going in fairly blind.
I'll have a lot of classes and training to do if this goes permanent, but for now... it's going to be flying by the seat of my pants.
I had a geometry teacher that winged it every day. his only preparation was to follow the curriculum, but the actual class was all ad-lib... I miss that dude. It was the most fun I've ever had with numbers.
Then I had this FoxPro instructor who knew just about anything you would want to know about it, but he sucked at passing all his knowledge to his students though.
My point: You don't really need to prepare for class as long as you make it fun for students to learn what they need.

if you were any good in bed your wife would have remembered your anniversary and you would have gotten laid july 1.
And that was the exact problem with the old teacher. She was all about textbook textbook textbook and making the kids write 'til their fingers fell off. My biggest challenge, honestly, is just going to be getting their interest back.
Made the call to my boss in Pennsylvania and sent my official letter of resignation in just now. It's official.
Yeah... There's certainly space for theory and some writing, but most computer stuff is hands-on. Do we really need to memorize the ISO layer anymore? I mean, a 3-second Google search can give anyone that type of info...
I believe IT would be much better served by people who don't know a lot but know where to look for information than people who know some stuff very well but have no idea where to find the rest.

Bingo. I feel exactly the same way and have told the school that I intend to focus on the ability to find the answers more so than knowing all of the information. They agreed with me.
