Red face Gmail -> Outlook 2k3

I just started using my Gmail account as my main business email and I wanted to import it into my Outlook 2k3. The one thing I have always hated about Gmail was how slow long it takes to load its interface over the web. For this reason I hardly ever used the account.

So I setup my Outlook to connect via POP. I ran into a tiny issue though, when I gathered all my existing mail it downloaded everything I sent as well. I know that Gmail is a different then most Web based Emails where it gathers emails into a "conversation" but is there anyway to have it save my responses into a Sent folder and only keep the relevant incoming mail in my Inbox.

I feel like a major noob.

I've searched far and wide for an answer to that question and never found one that doesn't involve setting up a filter. I just leave it be since I never use gmail via web to send emails, only to view if I'm not home and can't RDP to my home PC.

Which is not really a problem since it only takes a few seconds to set up a filter to mark the message read and send it to the sent folder.

Just tried it, prefer Pop3 but thanks for that tip, I had forgotten that imap was now an option. I'll use it for Outlook at work.

Yes, it's good for that. In Outlook, it creates a separate entry in your Tree as it would if you created an Outlook account for Hotmail. You can't apply Outlook filters to it, which is why I have no use for it, but it's perfect for mobile devices.

Why do you have Outlook? Why do you have Outlook 2003?

Pen and stamp > Outlook.

Pony Express > Outlook.

Morse Code > Outlook.

Smoke signals > Outlook.
