first of all you have to feel bad for this family - it was a freak accident. while i agree the lawsuit is ridiculous i'm also guessing they are not in it to make money - this may be the only way to get alum bats out of little league. unfortunately it took a terrible event for the parents and some others to see the impact the bats can have. i am old school and believe sh!t happens sometimes and you deal with it - but i can respect the family for now having a passion to get the bats removed. i hope they get the press they desire and some people of authority actually think this through - as far as litigation i hope it does not go that far. it's was an accident and that's it.

while many of you do not enjoy the great sport of hackey - few years ago a girl was struck and killed by a puck in a professional game. after that event netting was put around portions of rinks to protect people - this is an example of a terrible event leading to a change that is helping to keep more people safe.

the fact that someone can do something stupid and irresponsible thats totally there fault and win in court is a testament to craziness !!! mcdonalds had to actually fight twice and spend millions to win

maybe mexico will have an illegal american problem

The irony is, I told all my parents at the beginning of the season to get them. I had a kid get hit last night. The mother was laughing about not having grandkids. They all know and acknowledge that they should have them but their schedules are busy to get out to the store!!!!

The kids just a pussy raised by pussy parents. Both my sons play minor little league. My oldest in his 3rd year should be playing majors this year but they didn't have enough coaches. My youngest is his first year in minors. Both my sons have been hit with balls plowed over by a runners skin there knees bloody there noses and never have I seen them cry. They just stand up and walk it off.

Not standing up for the douche parents, but it was a freak accident and it didn't have much to do with the kid being a pussy - although it's quite possible and probable that he is one.

I doubt your kids could just stand up and walk if off w/ the heart stopping and brain damage from oxygen deprivation.

i bet the kid that got struck was the pitcher and not some fielder who took a hard grounder off his chest. anyone who has played the game know pitchers are very vulnerable to shots back up the middle, as they are finishing their pitching motion and off balance at the time.

My 4 year old is supposed to be in T-Ball.......He is on my minor league team....Went 2 for 2 last game. He got up to bat, other coach pulled the players in...He blasted it over their heads the first time....Kinda funn. On his team are all 6,7,8 and 9 year olds. He is quite a kid.

It was noted in the article that he was on the mound at the time the ball struck him.

or we could adopt a system like Australia, where the higher the demomination, the larger the bill is. It also comes in different colors so even the sighted can easily tell the difference.

Australian Money - Australian Currency, Banknotes, Coins

If you have a proper pitching motion you should not be off balance after you release the pitch.
If a pitcher is falling all over the place to the right or left after he releases he needs serious help with his pitching motion. A pitcher's job isn't over after he releases the ball, he then becomes a fielder and should be ready for anything hit in their direction.

When I got hit in high school it was a shot right back up the middle and I just barely missed getting my glove up in time. The ball tipped my glove but I managed to turn my head to the side and I got hit near the left temple.
