I've said this before, and I'll say it one last time (maybe). I went to high school with this guy. The good news: we used to have a good time running hard on the streets. The bad news? I haven't seen nor heard from him since then (22 years). If there is ANYONE I regret not keeping in tough with it's him A few of the other guys I used to know were part of his crew, including riding in the navi seat.
Envy isn't a healthy emotion at all, and I try to avoid it in life - but when it's something like this I'm as green with it as I could be....

If anyone is up in BC, his company has the shit to hoook a Suby up. I'll disclaim myself by saying I have not done business with them, and some of you might already have - so I have no clue how Pat runs his business.
Just one more reason to like Subaru...When you KNOW a manufacturer puts their equipment through these conditions it has to trickle down to their product, and it does. As you were...

yup I have heard only great things about them. If you wanna build a rally car right everyone recommends them. That second pic looks like it may be a hard landing.
Yep - he even had his sister riding navi for a while...
Anyhoo, I have a LOT to read up on and learn before I can talk shit about Subaru...Yes, there are Subaru boards out there, but having one here at "home" is good. Comfortable.
With Nissan offering less for the enthusiast to be happy about, Subaru is becoming a wee bit more attractive to me these days.
+1. The information on some of the Subie boards are all over the place and they make you feel like some kind of alien if you don't know everything right off the bat. I mean, I know how to use search, but, for example, that BOV thread that deebs posted gave me the info I was looking for, but it's still pages and pages long. That sh!t should be like 3 posts:
"Don't put a BOV on the stock setup"
"You sure?"
"Yep!"
And I agree on the Nissan thing too, they used to be the different company, kinda like Subie. I mean, the Altima IIRC was the only V6 M/T midsizer in it's class ripping off sub-6 second runs to 60 MPH (and could be had in basic trim without even ABS!) and I've loved Maximas since the mid-90s and probably even before that because I remember seeing Skyline swaps in the RWD ones running around. Now we get 2 boats with fancy tailights, the same engine they've been using since the early 2000s and a droning POS tractor trans with a so-called sport mode (if it can so be called) and (chuckle) paddle shifters and the general car-buying, greyscale, public is too busy doing other things while they're driving to notice that they're barely even controlling the car anymore.
There isnt much difference between the xt and the wrx. which can be made plenty fast and look just like the jdm sti version if you spend some money. I see your local to me so check out longislandsubaruclub.com they have xt's pop up every so often
Thanks for heads up, will look around and see what i can find.
^Thanks for starting this thread man...Maybe I can swing one for my next ride in the years to come...But my crazy-ass mind changes like the weather.
Good stuff
No problem I figured it was about time it was started. No better time then finals week lol.

I am just gonna quote wikipedia cause I dont know every detail that was different but i know they where lighter and faster and built off the rally car look. Also a closed deck is where the block has less passages around the cylinder wall thus making it stronger.

22B STi (03/98 – 08/98)
In 1998, Subaru of Japan produced a widebody, 2-door, Impreza called the 22B STi. The 22B was used to commemorate both Subaru's 40th anniversary as well as the 3rd consecutive manufacturer's title for Subaru in the FIA World Rally Championship. On the release of the sales, all 400 Japanese units sold out from 30 minutes to 48 hours, depending on the report.[2] The cars had the starting VIN code of GC8E2SD. Another 24 were produced for export markets – see the 16 22B Type UK below, along with another 5 for Australia, and 3 prototypes.
The 22B had the EJ22 engine as opposed to the regular EJ20 engine. (Note internal Subaru material states the block comes from a V3 EJ20G, not the EJ22G as most think. Also the intake manifold and heads were from the V4 EJ20K) This means the displacement was increased from 1994 cc to 2212 cc. The block is a closed-deck design. The heads (valves, valvetrain and such) were lifted from the STi Version 4 engine. It produce 280 PS (210 kW; 280 hp) at 6000 rpm and 363 N·m (267 ft·lbf, 37.0 kgf·m) of torque at a lower engine speed of 3200 rpm. The redline is 8000 rpm. The compression is an 8.0:1. The turbocharger is an IHI RHF 5HB (the internal company usage code is VF23, although a number of the cars received the larger VF22).
In performance terms, the donor STi Version 4 is capable of a 12.8 second quarter mile. The 22B, which carries an additional 20 N M of torque, has been timed at 12.5 seconds, however AWD cars can be difficult to launch, due to potentially bogging down if engine speed is too low, or the clutch is not correctly taken up.
This car was given a unique color of blue and had fender flared widebody taken from the Peter Stevens designed WRC car, thus widening the width by 80 mm (3.15 inches) for a total of 1,770 mm (69.7). During assembly, a WRX Type R chassis was taken off the line. The fenders were replaced with the 22B STi fenders. The car's curb weight is 1,270 kg (2,800 lb). The suspension is provided by Bilstein. The brakes were Brembo manufactured standard 4-piston/2-piston brakes. However, the color is red and the Subaru name cast on the brake calipers and painted white. The wheels were increased in size from the standard WRX Type R STi from 16x7" to 17x8.5" BBS Elektra wheels. The car is shod with 235/40 ZR17 Pirelli P Zeros. The clutch was upgraded to a sintered twin clutch with a ceramic disk. The transmission ratios are the same as the standard WRX Type R, but the gears were shot-peened for added reliability. The car has a unique hood, front and rear fenders, a WRC-inspired front bumper and a unique adjustable rear wing.
The origin of the name 22B has often been debated. Many assume 22 referred to the 2.2 liter displacement and the B was for the Bilstein suspension. This would correlate with the idea that Subaru sells a Legacy Spec B, where the B represents the Bilstein suspension. Others believe that 22B was meant to represent the much recognized 555 decal (555 is a tobacco company that was a major sponsor for Subaru in the WRC) on the WRC car as 22B is a hexadecimal representation of the decimal number, 555.
The 22B STi that is supposed to be #13 was never given the plaque. Subaru of America imported #13 to be used as a press car. Three prototype 22B STis were given the #000 plaque, 2 went to the World Rally car drivers for Subaru at the time Colin McRae and Nicky Grist, with the third being used by Subaru Japan as their press car. It was widely rumored David Lapworth of Prodrive owned the third #000 car, however he actually owned #400.[3]

No problem I wish you the best of luck. post up anything you find and ill either go look at it with you if im around or at least look at the ad
There is only 2 22b's in this country and they are in Colorado somewhere, and Subaru of America in NJ, if you had the 3rd that would be beyond badass. There are some amazing replicas though. I just painted my wheels today for the subbie and cleaned the interior, it was covered in engine oil and different fluids lol. I need to stop using my car to transport so much.
And as far as Subaru's being fun to drive I love them. That and I do like their interior. But driving them is just fun, I daily a 5 speed in traffic through major cities and it's okay because come the weekend I am out enjoying it. I have put over 30k on mine in the last year lol.
if I win the lotto I would try to get one. Wouldn't be easy at all but if I had that type of expendable money I could just sit around all day figuring out a way. Also want a R32 one day

Heard a few good things about this company from other Nissan owners. Nostalgia Imports

I like the R32, but I will never trust a vw lol. I like that color blue they come in though, even test drove a new one for the hell of it and it was nice.
I finally repainted all my wheels today and put on the new tires. I can't get a jack under my car with the sideskirts so they aren't going back on for a bit lol. I love how love the frame sits, but going from the Subaru to my truck makes the difference seem crazy. Than I have the Altima which is like a nice medium when it comes to working on it lol. Not sure about you but I need to be careful when I go near any speeds bump or I scrap.

R32's are awesome, I like the wider body R33's the best, but R32's are a second close. I assume you are talking about a Skyline

Think hes talking about a Skyline since you can find vw's anywhere.
