i didnt mean you personally, i meant generally. i know my galaxy has gotten hot a couple times and it smelled funny, but its because i was taxing the living shit out of it with tasks. its never skipped a beat though and i didnt think it was going to get hot enough to catch on fire.

anyways, i have the s2 and i love it. as far as the keyboard goes - are you using swype? theres a reason you have to enter a lowercase "i" in the field, because who does that?? the phone knows thats not a normal use of that letter. entering it into the field "ok's" it for later use.
I don't use swype. To clarify, my phone want to ALWAYS capitalize the letter "i", even in the MIDDLE of a word! It's stupid. So if I type "stupid" in my phone, the word comes out "stupId". See how stupid that is? Having to confirm a letter after typing it is not how the keyboard should be set up. Why stop there? How about making the user have to hit enter after every single character input? See my point?
I have the original Verizon Droid X from like 3 years ago and it's seriously on its last leg. I've been holding out trying to wait for this new iPhone to come out. Not sure if it's going to be worth it so my next option is the Galaxy S III. I might pull the trigger this week. You guys go with blue or white? 16GB or 32GB?
i have the white s2, it looks much better than the black one. if i were to get the s3 or the note, ill be getting those in white too. i went with the 16gb and you can put up to a 32gb card in it. thats plenty of space.
as far as the iphone goes - its old news and hasnt done anything spectacular in forever. considering they only hold 18% of the market, id say the smart money is on an android phone.

I got the dark blue one with 16GB of memory. Then I bought a 32 GB card off of eBay for like $18. That's plenty of memory for photos and vids, plus I can store my entire music collection of about 500 CD's on there. You can't go wrong with this phone, it's pretty sweet!
I plan on getting one within the next month. My carrier is rolling 4g across my state and releasing the phone at the same time.
I have a Galaxy S I right now. It has been crappy since day 1 (I exchanged 6 of them in for warranty covered issues, 7th was new out of box and still has issues). I was (and still contemplating) jumping ship and going to Windows Phone 8. Samsung is the only Android mfg I care for and even they have let me down.
My issues seem to be almost directly related to my carrier and other small carrier versions of the phone. Hopefully the SIII will be different because it's the same model as the big boys are getting.
I really want to leave my carrier for a better choice of phones but they offer excellent, soon to be 4g, unlimited/unthrottled data reception at $55 a month. I use way to much data for work to not be on an unlimited plan or at least an affordable capped plan (which ATT/VZW doesn't offer). I'm going to talk to my brother and VZW rep about adding a line on his account that maintains his unlimited data, I'll pay for the phones outright.
My only other option that isn't prepaid/throttled is Sprint and their reception is a step below horse shit in my area.

Unlimited won't stay.

Whatever you do, dont EVEN consider sprint. Their "sub headquarters" is here in Northern VA had wiimax 4g on my evo 3d and it was slower than the speed you have listed in your sig. Now that I have the magical 3g only with no LTE I get 0.1 mbps, thats about 200x SLOWER than what your currently getting

T-Mobile is actually bringing back Unlimited Data starting today I believe.
Supposedly it's $20/mo. and will be unlimited @ 4G speeds. So it should be completely unlimited and at a much better price than Sprint.
EDIT: Just looked and the only plan I could find was a "Classic" Unlimited Everything Plan (Talk, Text, Data) for $89.99/mo. So it's actually more than Sprint's unlimited... hopefully they bring it to the "Value Package" plans soon...
Unfortunately T-Mobile is almost as or as useless as Sprint in my area.

My carrier will remain unlimited for certain, even if the newer plans cost a little more. I've already been guaranteed in writing that I can keep my current plan ($55-60) when I upgrade to a 4g phone.
VZW still offers unlimited to employees and its generally up to the rep, so talking to my rep a bit might get him to allow me on my bro's account. But I would only swap to VZW if I could do that. Their new plans are stupid. At least ATT is still offering their old plans, which makes them an option.

WiMax was a terrible idea in the first place. It was an even worse idea for Sprint to spend money to implement it when everyone else was going for LTE.
My sig is actually a VZW work phone.
My current 3g speeds are terrible on my personal phone, but that is supposed to change by the end of the month.
