I carry. There is a thread just near this one that is "post up the pics of your GUNS"
I am a carrier. The only worry I have is about missing if the time comes. I carry just about everywhere. Never know when you are going to need it. I never worry about shooting myself. I worry about not seeing what is beyond the target (tunnel vision is a bitch) but I do train with my pistol in a high stress environment and Its def a good thing to do.
^ You cannot, however, shoot them in the back. If they are leaving your house, you MUST let them leave.
In colorado, however, even if just their foot is still in your house, you can shoot to kill . Believe it or not, it is called the "make my day" law haha

The one thing that got me was this, He was hardcore in his mind. He shot unarmed men women and children. He hears the cops and first responders and he doesnt even face them? Im not saying I wanted him to make it any worse, but he shot himself. He should have did that in the beginning. But the thing that gets me most of all is everyone talking about gun control, No one approaches the subject that he is mentally ill, there is no where out there for these people to get help and this can happen again. Im not saying all mentally disabled people are threats and need to be locked up. Im saying there should be more resources for them and their families instead of closing the hospitals up and leaving med surg hospitals to deal with this. Your right on seeing the big picture. But I think it went the gun control route because some people want to be prepared if the shit hits the fan and some see it as more opportunity for innocents to get hurt.... If that case worker had a pistol they would be alive and the butcher knife would be in a plastic baggy for evidence and not in their back....either way fuced up world.

incorrect, you can shoot in the back. local case just ended last week. if a crime inside your home is still taking place you can shoot. prob in the doorway not a good idea but even if not facing you it is justified to shoot.
Back on topic, my heart drops for those families. Being a father, I can't look at my boys now without wondering if they'll be safe in school. I now make sure that everyday, they know they're loved and cherished because we just never know. I can't fathom the pain and grief that those poor parents feel after losing such a centerpiece of their families.

They really seem to tip toe around the whole mental health issue. It's like they don't want to open a whole new can of worms . But it needs to be addressed treatment for our mentally ill individual ls getting more and more scarce .
I cried with my little girls when I heard about this.. it could've been because of my mental state - On Friday I was coming back from funeral of my grandma who passed away on Wednesday (12/12/12 BTW, will be hard to forget). Saw the news on TV and it was just heartbreaking.
My heart and prayer goes out to the family who lost loved ones.
