are the SE R fogs xenon/hid from the factory? From what I understand the main difference besides the look is they use a projector lens. I thought the bulbs are the same as the regular altima fogs?

They're not hid from factory. They use the same H11 bulb that all other altimas use. You can in fact upgrade from halogen to an hid kit in the fog light. Yes. The main difference is the projector lense.
