Thanks! This is the BEST support I've had. Communication BEFORE and AFTER the purchase has been phenomenal. It's VERY VERY rare to find true hands on afterpurchase support. But this is one of the exceptions. I'm going to update my thread when I get a chance but I'll give the story now:
I had my car tuned via a well known speed shop. I only purchased the flash and had them to dyno tune the car. There was trouble with getting the ECU flashed and tuned. Finally the shop gets the car running and tuned; so they say. After signing and paying and about to walk out of the door they mention, 'oh by the way that the car is running lean in the upper RPMs and try to stay off it until the issue is resolved'. This shop was 2.5 hours from me so this type of info would have been something I'd love to have heard before making the trip becaue I would have had them to figure out what the issue was. I just took the car home and trouble shot it here and there.
Finally I get to the point that it's either get rid of the car or go forward with mods. I went round and round with myself on what to do. Thanks to Joe and some other members here I decieded to give it a 2nd shot. Well I've been speaking with Joe about the matter for about a month now and he's always repsonded and with SOLID evidence and recommendations; not only for keeping the car but aslo if I decieded to part with it.
His first recommendation was to keep the car and get the CIPHER cable and to get some logs to see how the car was running. Joe even helped me to see that I since I'd already been flashed with UpREV all I needed was the Cipher tuner cable and not the full blown tuner packages since I already owned a license. Well after purchasing the cable I felt that the transaction was done and I'd have another shop to finish the tune. The cable came and so did Joe's email. He walked me through STEP by STEP how to check my UpREV software.
We find out that the car had the UpREV flash but not tune.....
How that happened I'm not sure but Joe walked me through step by step how to get the ECU code and tune for each map and NO map was setup with a tune. Therefore my car wasn't tuned!! As the story progresses we'll see how this is sooo important.
Joe then emails me the generic flash tune for my ecu. He walks me through how to flash the ECU myself. I'm thinking well we are done now. NOPE!! Joe has me to get run files for the tune and to send them back. He then sends me an updated tune. I flash again and Joe asks for more logs. I promptly get those to him. This process goes on for 3 more times!!! With each flash the car gets better and better. Joe not only set me up with tunes and all that's involved with that but he's also played around with the transmission (me being auto) and has stiffened it up a bit (poor mans transgo kit) Joe calls it.
I received the last tune last night/this AM as I was out with my wife. I'm going to flash this tune and if it's been like the others it's going to have the car running better than the last tune. With each tune I feel that it can't get beter BUT it does!!! So as you can see the issues weren't with the car. I had a few other members to mention this to me as well (thanks guys). The issue was the tune or lack there of.
All I can say is that Joe is the man! He offered me sound counsel and advice and I'm soo glad I listened. Guys if you are on the fence about UpREV or am thinking of purchasing it I HIGHLY recommend going through Joe. He has my car running soo good right now and I had to type of this review before going out to flash the latest tune. He took time out of his schedule to help me. Joe I really appreciate that! I can't say it enough.
I want to say thanks to the entire NissanClub as well. I've made so many new friends. This forum truly is amazing! We may step on each others toes every now and then but in the end it's all love. Thanks guys and safe modding to all.
