Lightbulb So...

I want to buy a Skyline R-34 from the U.K. and have it shipped to the United States where I live. I am fully aware of the fact that it is a very long and expensive process to legalize it. But isn't there a way to have it registered only as a show car? That would cut all the costs, besides for purchasing and shipping it of course, down to either little or none correct? I have about $14,000 saved right now. I am estimating with around 10k-11k to purchase and 2k-3k to ship it non contained, is it possible to get this car?

-Thanks

Unfortunately you're WAY off with the purchase price of the car. Try more like $50k US...

If you visit vast.com or ebay.co.uk, you'll find many lagit. Skylines (R33 GT-R's) for the price i mentioned. They only cost about 50k if you buy them ALREADY in the US. But as I said before, I want to purchase mine overseas, THEN ship it here. The price drastically decreases when purchased in the UK.

The reason the price is drastically decreased is because they are in the UK and ready for a buyer that's in the UK. The reason the US Skylines are so expensive is because all the BS that you WILL pay for from importing a car from overseas is already paid in a car that's here. Besides even mentioning the shipping and importing fees, most won't let a car off the docks that isn't US legal, especially a model that was never sold in the states before.

Believe me, if it were that simple and cheap to buy a UK car and ship it over, it would have been done my many people by now. But don't take my word for it, talk to Sean Morris (screen name Tyndago) at a forum called Fresh Alloy. He'll tell you everything you need to know about getting a GTR into the states, he's done it more times than anyone on this side of the world.
