Cool Bai Bai Loncoln LS!

Ah yes!
The Lincoln LS!
Motor Trend's car of the year once upon a time!
A couple of guys from work saw my new alty and wanted to pick on it. They were pretty confident of the 3.9L V8 they had. So I said OK. I had a passenger, XXL size, but thats OK, more traction!
So we go to a traffic light, wait for green, I rise the RPM to about 1500, my 4 speed auto is on 1 (I changed manually), then we floored it on green.
This was before my first service too, unbroken in engine.
So in the end he says something about not shifting well in 2nd (its an auto! How can you miss?) and something else about traffic.
Looking forward to hearing more excuses like that in my life!

Well We did reach 120 kmh before we ran into traffic, and I was 3/4 of a car ahead.
The same 2nd gear excuse they used a week after against another racer. So I'm sure they gave it everything!

I remember finding that the LS was a POS. The one major issue that stands out in my mind is tranny problems. There is bashing in almost any review you find for the LS. Great kill, the LS didn't stand a chance.

If there was an award for worst tranny spanning the entire company...that would have to go to Ford. I think they could make better trannys if they made them out of wood. (Sorry, bad experiences)

I raced a friends today on a little roll from about 35-40 and giving him the go i instantly put a car on him and by 70 i had enough ahead where i turned into his lane in front of him and still pulling. (roughly 2 car lengths)

funny part was, when we got up to the next light, a guy in a car we passed said to him:

"dang....that v6 got you huh!"

and it was like an older guy (early 50's)

His, is a 02 v8 5spd auto

i have an 05 3.5se 5spd auto

i guess the altima is like 450lbs lighter.

good kill, u use the tiptronic to downshift/upshift or left it in D?
also do u hear a tiny small noise from the tranny when you put your leg on the brake to switch from say P to D ?

i cant say i remember any noise, but i'll post back next time i get in the car because i will listen for something.

when i raced him, i wanted to make sure my car wouldn't kick down to the "wrong" gear, so i manually kicked it down to 2nd so i'd have instant POWAH....after that, the car will shift on it's own if you leave it in gear so i just let the car do the rest after that.
