Hey how are you guys doing? I encountered two Maximas a few days ago, one was a 1998 and the other was a 2005.
Lets start with the 1998 Maxima, I know he had an intake and exhaust, but thats all I know. I was driving home from work when this Maxima was tailing me for no stupid reason. He could of just passed, but noooooo, he just continued to tail me (I think he wanted some attention). Anyway, guess what happens next....A RED LIGHT! So we both stop, I look over at the dumb ass and he was smiling (Odd person).
Anyway, I give it a rev, he does the same. The light turns green and we both peel out a little bit (stupid FWD and crappy factory tires). In 1st gear he was right beside me because how bad the wheel spin was (Gave it a little too much gas).
6600 RPM approaches and I shift very fast in to 2nd and again, I got some wheel spin but it launched me forward and I was a car length ahead in the beginning of 2nd. I shift into 3rd and now I am like 4 cars a head and after that I just destroyed him.
Now people are going to say why did you even race him, he has less power. My answer to that is, I don't give a shit, he was tailing me and wanted to race me so I put him into his place period.
Alright, the other Maxima finally with a VQ35DE. This was an odd race because it was like we knew what we were thinking. We gave each other no signs but we knew when to punch it. So anyway, he was a car length ahead when he punched it so than I punch it half a second later. I was in 3rd and I was reeling him in pretty good. In the end of 3rd I was a full car length ahead. He gave me a better run than the 1998, but he still got toast. After that he tried to pass me and I just down shift and beat him again lol. He was going to do a ricer fly by, but I just said "No fly zone" and he was beat again.
After that, I raced a viper! Yeah thats right! For some reason my car was keeping up until............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ....... the alarm clock went off and I woke up from that dream. Damn it! My car is fast in my dreams lmfao!
lol, yeah I can't even full throttle in 1st even if I don't launch it, the damn thing breaks traction so fast. There must be a sweet spot. I think it will be nearly impossible for me to get good 60 foot times at the track when I go in a few weeks.

The 4th gen Max doesn't have much power up top (unless it has the aftermarket manifold) but it will pull well until the top of third gear. You just gave him what he asked for :-).
When you go to the track, lower the air pressure in the front (about 23psi works for me), and don't drop the hammer as soon as the light turns. Finesse is your friend when launching a FWD car.
