Talking 06 3.5SE manual beats 06 Mustang GT manual

Maybe nothing new, but for my 62nd birthday present to myself, I beat an 06 Mustang GT manual on a deserted stretch of back country Nevada road last night, twice! We happened to be driving in the same direction and came up to a stop side by side. He was itchy as he kept blipping his throttle. I looked at him and he was getting ants in his pants. I quickly checked out the road, which is always deserted at night (and it was last night too). Well, we both unloaded at the same time, and I was surprised to see that through 1st gear I was pulling ahead ever so slightly. When I hit 2nd I started pulling 2 or 3 lengths ahead, and by the time I hit 3rd, he was about half a block behind. So, anyway I stopped at the next cross road at a sign and waited. He pulled up next to me and started the throttle blip thing again. I really thought that once was enough, but when I started away from the stop, he slowed down for me to catch up. As my hood evened out with the driver's window on his car, I dropped into 2nd and opened it up so he could hear my WAI. He hit it, and never got near me. Next up was a traffic light and some traffic. I turned off and he went straight. I guess he wasn't up for a 3rd beating. Made me feel good. 'Course I gotta remember he was in a Ford! But being an old guy who knows how to drive trumps his Ford GT thing.

Well good kill but he wasn't going all out. A stock 06 Mustang GT 6spd can easily run mid-high 13's trapping in the 103MPH range. Unless you have Nitrous you wouldn't pull like that on a new stang not even the auto stang!

if you look at mustang quarter mile times its all in the 0-60 , there 0-60 is about 0.6-0.7 sec faster and so is there 1/4 mile time , the trap speed isnt to far off either maybe 2-3 mph difference . so if the mustang launches off wrong and dosent shift right its anyones game but close . from a 2nd gear roll at around 40-45 up to 90 i stayed right next to my friend who has a 05 stick v8 . 62 and keeping the spirit alive nice work , good kill.

Hmmmm....pulling on a 2006 Mustang at top? You must have some decent mods. They dyno 260 WHP and 265 ft-ibs of torque and can pull a mid 13 in the 1/4 (Due to the nice RWD configuration). Anyway, anything can happen on the street so GOOD KILL!

stop reading the magazines for christ sake! do you really think he would lie to you? why would the guy in the mustang not be going all out? so he can lose intentionally?

Its called seeing many at the track! Have you seen them run? Obviously not!! I don't think the mustang was trying thats for sure. Pulling 2-3 carlengths on a 300HP and 320TQ 5spd Mustang in 2nd gear doesn't make sense to me with a 250HP altima. If you believe that nonsense you don't know what your talking about! Go do your homework!

oh i have seen them run. ive seen them run with good drivers driving them. probably just a bad driver in the mustang. and by doing my homework, does that mean i should be reading more of car & driver, motor trend, and road & track? cuz thats obviously what you have been doing in your spare time...

I do read the mags from time to time. I go to the track quite often including racing my accord their countless numbers of times. Ill stick with what I said that no Altima V6 like his is putting 2-3 cars on a 06 Mustang GT in 2nd gear. I have seen many 5spd GT's 300HP running mid-high 13's. There have been about 10 that I know of that have gone down the track and a couple auto's hit 14.1@100MPH. Here at SIR which is at 3075ft they don't hit those times. At infineon they do! Like I said go do your homework!

My co-worker has an 06 model GT and I just dont see a V6 Altima putting 2-3 cars on a GT,especially from a dig.

I agree with the honda-boy,hard for me to believe that story.
