you serious? an auto with a shift kit will outshift the FASTEST manual shifter hands down. all the fastest 8 cylinder cars ARE automatic. you really gotta do some research.

Autos are usually in the fastest cars. They are more consistant in drag racing. A mt is beneficial mostly in road racing or on drag racing street cars (low power).

im a firm believer in standards for small displacement, auto for large displacement.
thats why they make all the big displacement factory cars with clutchless manuals that are basically manually shifted autos. pressing a clutch and moving a shifter just takes too much time.

we're talking about a bolt on modded street driven camaro ss, not a all out drag racing car. DUH! Obviously an auto in that circumstance is faster than any manual tranny. I don't need to research anything.

A professional drag racer wants the fastest time, and YES with that particular car an AUTO is gonna give you the fastest time.

Do you ever go to the track and see the mopar's race? Do you EVER see a mopar with a manual transmission?

You are thinking of the generic slushboxes found in economy cars. Automatics are far superior than what they were in the past.

doesnt have to be a pro drag car. ever seen an 80's gm car, name any of them, with a v8 and a b&m shift kit on an auto? youre not outshifting those guys either. theres a reason built autos chirp the wheels when they shift - theres no hesitation when the clutch packs slam together.
youre not right with your statement and youre not going to be.
purpose built autos WILL outshift you. period.

again, I was never talking about a built auto either. Simply a 6MT SS camaro vs. and AT. Not hard to understand here

This was a pretty general statement, so you got a general response.

no no shift kit. just a chip intake and exhaust. its been a veeeery long time since it has been driven. about ten years. i spent most of my young life helping him do small repairs and being driven in it. its neck snapping fast so its hard to pay attention to the shifts. i positive it shift very quick because there is no lag in that car. hopefully in a couple years he will pas that down to me.
