Smile Atlima Vs. stories

So I was on my way home from a baseball game tonight and I'm driving down a local HWY with this black Civic (06 or newer)- de-baged, tinted everything, looked like SI rims and an absurdly loud exhaust (probably skunk2 judging by the the frame around his license plate). I have a bone stock 08 2.5s with a 6 spd. When I go to get on the expressway he cuts me off and is in front of me on the ramp getting on. I drop it into 2nd and by the end of 3rd I am at least a car length in front of him, traffic starts to close in so I shift from the left lane let him pass and with the use of a hand gesture, rub in the fact my stock Altima womped on his weedwacker civic, all while my gf is still trying not to look.

I felt good for several reasons.
1. He sulked away and got off the Expressway at the next exit and I drove off into the night victorious ( since I haven't raced anyone in this car ever...probably because I don't have delusions about my cars abilities)
2. Regardless of it being a base civic or an SI and I taught this guy, that no matter how much louder you make your car, doesn't make it faster.
3. I obviously have a better gear box, and can work it better them him ( or he likes to neutral drop his automatic at traffic lights)

So pretty much he got

So building off my adrenal rush for the evening. Does anyone else have some good stories about putting the other guys in there place when their cars can put there money where the mouth, or in this case exhaust, is.

I beat a 350Z about a month ago, it was a 6-SPD 287HP version. I got the best launch and was able to stay about car or half a car ahead of him. That was the race I was the most happy about. I have raced alot of cars I can write pages about it, but I would have to say racing a guy with his girl in the car and wining would have to be the best

If the Civic was a base model fine, if it was an Si you would have gotten toasted, my buddy has a Si with a Skunk 2 exhaust and AEM Intake and dyno's just over 200hp.

I don't disagree with that statement. I like to think when it comes to cars I've grown up alot since I started driving back in Highschool. I have a much different take how they work, and what the hell I can get a way with in my car and what kinda cars I should be able to get in front of.

Its a smaller car (presumably lighter) and has more power than mine ( if its was an SI). Like I said, I don't look to race ppl, I'm not a race car driver. I know my cars capabilities. However That doesn't mean the guy knows how to drive his car, I know alot of ppl that drive stick and can't do it well....which includes my older brother. I think the point why I wanted to share this with the world is that, it is unnecessary to continually rev your engine every change you get, for well over 5 miles of road way with lights. I don't mind once in a while, your trying to show off to girls, or friends, or whatever, but continually for no reason is ridiculous, and regardless of what model the guy was driving. Which is why I took a stab at it, and he went home (presumably) crying since his tinted windows and tail lights and fart can couldn't help him enough to get in front of me.

Nice kill. It either wasn't an SI or the guy couldn't drive. Stock out of the box those cars run mid-high 14s with traps in the mid-higher 90's with a great driver. I am curious though what the 2.5L Altima 6MT would run in the 1/4mile. Probobly mid-high 15's I would guess!

I would have to believe that someone has ran a 2.5 w/ a stick and could answer that. That being said I would have to say, if I could run anything near 16.00 in my car I would be ecstatic! Fastest time I ever did at a track was like 17.9 in a 2.0 2000 Jetta. a quick google search seems to put 16.00 in the relm of possibility. there's a thread on here about it already.

I think you could best a 16.0 for sure. I know that the CVT Altima 4cyl is a low 16-mid 16 second car and I would guess with a great launch you could hit a 15.9 easy!

An intake and exhaust barely gives a 3.5 VQ 20whp so its going to give a torquless wonder 20hp to the wheels?

With full bolton's and a K-pro or HONDATA tune they make 215-220whp.

I've eliminated many Civic Si's in my time, the only one that didn't get smoked by me was a full bolton one with K-pro tuning. He sorta hanged a lil. The other ones I couldn't count the cars behind they were.

Which is one of my points to. Just because you can bolt on exhaust ( or any other bolt on for that matter) and your car sounds like a race car, doesn't mean it isn't a race car and you not going to get huge performance gains. I looked into it, I am fairly certain that the rims on that car are the same as the rims the stock rims the SI have. which leads me to believe the victim in this story can't drive well...

Dexion- I know you have a 6 cycl., but whats your opinion of the nismo exhaust? a quality exhaust I would suppose.

So you raced another guy, probably a car enthusiast like a lot of us, and you flicked him off because you won? I don't agree with that. I usually give the thumbs up.

Or did he do something to you intentionally? Maybe I missed something.

When I was younger, and I used to be a little more "on the edge" and didn't have a car loan on my car that I still have to pay if I crashed it (I know I also have full coverage but still) I used to race my friends or whoever, try to flex the 90ish whp that my jetta got to the pavement, and had fun, but I also didn't drive like an "jerk" just because and cut off people left and right, not even attempt to use my turn signal. There is a reason why car enthusiast have a bad name and the general public think we all have no disregard for our own or others safety. and in my opinion, this other driver was being reckless for no reason what so ever, and I said before, he cut me off right as we where getting on to a local expressway (6 lanes wide at this point, traffic very light since it was past 10 on a week night) and I decided to go with him and the rest is as I said.

Maybe I was a bit out of line, but i guess in my opinion he was a bit out of line in how he was driving. Its not like people haven't done it to me before as well....when i wasn't even racing them..... Maybe its just the water in New Jersey that makes us all act this way

Stuff happens. I used to do stupid things like giving the finger and bad road rage when I was younger. Now I realize how stupid all of that was. I just mind my own business and go on my merry way. Not worth it to walk in the office in the morning all worked up. What I've started doing is when I get the finger is smile back or give a thumbs up. Seems to aggrevate them even more.

But in relation to the topic, I had a Ridgeline try and cut me off before the merge this morning. I just feathered the gas so I stayed half car up on him. It was cake and he was livid. Of course he tailed me like no other. Whatever.

haha i've done that and you're right. they just get more pissed.

i had this small work truck with four dudes in it kept cutting me off as i was trying to merge over to the far right lane to exit the freeway. first time made me mad but i ignored it. second time i was even more mad and i honked. and the third time they tried i gunned it past them and made them swerve back into their lane and i gave the finger out of the sunroof haha. this pissed them off i guess so they followed me and at the freeway off ramp light the pulled up next to me and wanted to fight 4 on 1. i just laughed and turned up the music. right, like im gonna fight 4 dudes on a freeway off ramp. chumps think theyre so tough when they're in groups.

anyway, you never know who you're dealing with. ive heard of people get road rage and the other car had a gun and started firing. people are nuts. not worth the time or money.
